Re: Infiniti G35

I looked at a brand new one, and if I had not seen the new '09 Maxima, I would be driving a G right now.

Re: Infiniti G35

I have a 2004 G35x sedan--all wheel drive. I bought it new and have about 50,000 miles on it--I can't remember how many without looking. It is a very nice car. I have had some thoughts about getting something else due to the fact I have 2 kids now.

I don't think you can go wrong with an Infiniti.

Re: Infiniti G35

Brian, you ended up getting a new vehicle? i was reading some of your posts on a car discussion saying you didnt think youd do it. I havent really looked at the 09 maxima, im a coupe person. I would like to think Infiniti is the way to go and that im going to have a solid commuter if i buy one, because some of them i am looking at have a good 40,50000 miles on them or more.

Re: Infiniti G35

Got 1, love it. But you'll need snow tires if you get the 2 door, I totaled my 1st one in an ice storm. Air bags work. Holds its value well too, I actually made money on the deal. So now I have a 2005.

It's a blast to drive, and after a long day at work it makes you feel a lot better when you see it on the walk to your car.

Gas mileage isn't the best for a small car(18 in town/24 highway), but that's because of the 290hp. With current gas prices I'd almost consider a 4 cylinder Civic. Almost.

Re: Infiniti G35

I had a Nissan 350Z, which is similar to the G35 coupe. Nice fun car but you don't want it as your only car. The G35 has a nicer interior than the Z but it's still very bad in the winter and rides a little rough. The engines are bulletproof.

Now you got me missing my old car.

Re: Infiniti G35

Ive driven both 350z and g35, there is night and day difference between the interior and ride. I also have an escalade and the 300c G35 would be my commuter car. decided g35 because of back seat and trunk and better ride

Re: Infiniti G35

My Dad has an '03 G35 coupe and the only issues he has with it are gas (likes premium), and the winter (snow tires solved that issue. Blizzaks are a great thing). Put new tires on it this spring. Otherwise it's been a great car. He's actually taken it on a couple of business trips.

Once he put Blizzaks on it he hasn't had a problem in the winter. He's not going to go plowing through 8" of snow, but snow, ice slushy roads, etc the car is very sure footed as long as you pay attention and remember that you are in a 300hp RWD car. The stock Goodyear RS-A tires are horrible in the snow. I had to put blizzaks on my Mz3 to cure the same tire issue.

He's only gotten pulled over once in it (which according to him is a miracle as he speeds like no other at times), and that was because he had no front plate.

Re: Infiniti G35

You could probably get by without snow tires on the G35, although the Blizzaks are exceptional. The Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position is a high performance all-season tire. It's pricey, but not really much more than the Blizzaks. According to the reviews on Tirerack.com, it scores "excellent" in winter and wet driving conditions. Bridgestone pretty much wipes the floor with Goodyears in every category you can think of.

Re: Infiniti G35

I was surprised it was my 1st post, thought I'd put my opinion in on a few things before, but I am mainly just a lurker.
I couldn't help talking about my car though, guess that says something for G35

Agreed. The G35 is a lot more luxurious and the 350Z is a lot more like a sports car ride and no back seat. I don't think you'll be able to fit a human in the back seat but it is handy to be able to throw something in the back. The G35 is also a lot quieter inside.

You should be able to get a real good deal on a used one since the G37 is out now. For the money, there really isn't anything else in it's class that competes well. If I was going to buy a coupe for under $45K it would be between the G37 and the Lexus IS.

What don't you like about the 300C?

You Nissan and Infiniti owners probably already know about this website, but it's helped me out with questions on my Infiniti:

1.5 years ago, I switched from my 300 ES(1992) to a "new" I30 Touring. Both Lexus, and Infiniti are such solid rides. As a self-diagnosed cheapskate, I love the luxury of these brands, with the low cost of operation, and longevity they make outstanding purchases.

A self diagnosed cheapskate that drives only lexus or infiniti? What does that make me?
