40%?!?!?! You must be shopping at the wrong place. For food at home, CPI says an increase of 5% from April 2007 to April 2008.

Table 1. Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U): U. S. City Average, by expenditure category and commodity and service group

No problem ... just seemed a little high based on my family's shopping, so I wanted to check it out.

Its mostly those rib shaped bbq sandwhiches and Pirouski's that have raised the schools costs...

Seriously, I can cut back on a few things, but not enough to counter act the worse case situation of everything.
Well then maybe Americans might actually mend their clothes, instead of throwing them away when they get tired of them.

I get it. You're using the "hard-hitting hysterical drive-by 'journalism'" as practiced by CNN as a guide. Gotta challenge for you: Take any single news report by CNN and examine it for logic and consistency errors. I guarantee at least a dozen MAJOR errors in every report.

The only TV I watch is CNN during breakfast. One of my hobbies is picking apart their "news" reporting. They do a very bad job of reporting the news.
