Big people breed big people? I suppose there are some people who are going to be chubby via genetics. But the vast majority of fat people are fat for 2 reasons.

1) Sedentary lifestyles. The proliferation of the computer & video games is a major culprit here. I think that a lot of people no longer actually work like they used to. I mean actual physical labor. A lot of people do a lot of sitting in front of a computer for their jobs. And how many of those people work out either before or after their work hours? Probably not a high percentage.

Kids are included in this too. There are actually commercials that try to encourage kids to go outside and play. This seems odd to me because I never had a problem going outside to play when I was a kid. We played basketball, football, dodgeball, smear-the-q###r, etc, all of the time when I was a kid. Do kids get PE at school anymore? How much time do they get for recess today? Are kids today couch potatoes too?

2) Excessive food intake. Soda or pop or whatever you call it in your part of the world, I believe is another major culprit. When I was a kid, soda was something that I had from time to time. It wasn't a staple like it is today.

I think microwaves are another bad guy here. You can have a meal almost anytime you want in just a few minutes. Meals used to be only twice or three times per day productions. Now you can nuke a pizza pocket or whatever and have a meal (calorie-wise anyway) in between regular meals.

So between the pop and grazing, that's probably adding a few hundred or thousand calories a day to an already sedentary lifestyle. And unless you have the metabolism of a cocaine fueled hummingbird, the next thing you know you're 300+ lbs and you are in danger of entering a Ron Santo look alike contest.

Stupid people do breed more stupid people. This is unfortunately true and there is no known cure. However, stupid people are necessary because it's harder to fleece money out of smart people. P.T. Barnum knew this.

I'll tell you a story, believe me it's true
