Obesity is contributing to global warming

Latest global warming factor: Obesity - Climate Change - MSNBC.com

This is the police. Put down the hamburger.

"We have gone forth from our shores repeatedly over the last hundred years and we've done this as recently as the last year in Afghanistan and put wonderful young men and women at risk, many of whom have lost their lives, and we have asked for nothing except enough ground to bury them in, and otherwise we have returned home to seek our own, you know, to seek our own lives in peace, to live our own lives in peace." You're so very right!! Stupidity is a much bigger handicap than being fat. We all know that the only reason people are oveweight is because they are lazy, slothful, ignoramuses. While being opinionated, close-minded, and judgemental are curses set upon us from birth.

To answer your question b4, (that's before), you ask it, yes I am very overweight and have never used a handicapped parking space, as I've seen some perfectly healthy, young people who are sure their time and inconvenience is much more important than mandates to help less fortunate people, do.

I've been overweight since early childhood, so it's been difficult, but not impossible for me to manage my weight. Pretty much, my situation is of my own doing. That's not the case with all people who are obese, some are because of psycholgical disorders, some physical, and yes, some simply eat too much and don't exercise enough. It's so unfair to stereotype anyone because of their appearance, yet in our culture, the way you look seems to be more important than who you are or what you know or are capable of.

Before we judge people, we should at least attempt to understand their plight. Nah, let's just ridicule everyone, it's so much easier!!

Re: Obesity is contributing to global warming

Alllllllllrighty then. My intention in posting was to illustrate the items on the agenda of those who would like nothing more than to tell people what they can and can't do with their personal lives. Our ability to make decisions (our rights) are being slowly eroded in the name of the greater good (or at least someone's view of it).

Smokers? You pose health risks, to yourself and to others. We must intervene for your own good.

Fat? You obviously don't know any better, so we need to regulate this as well. All they need is a reason that your activities affect others, and your rights to choose will be gone.

Wonder who's next?

Obese people can't fit in small cars and need to buy a big SUV. Big SUV's contribute to global warming.

This scenario also points out the lack of contribution to the world of comedy.

Fat guy driving a Ford Excursion isn't funny at all. Fat guy driving a Mazda Miata makes you chuckle at least a little bit.

I'll tell you a story, believe me it's true

Maybe, but at the present time global warming has nothing on the BILLIONS of dollars obesity is costing our health care system. And a lot of that comes out of your pocket, and mine, as the lower the socioeconomic status the higher the obesity rate (ie more likely on state/federal insurance). And no, this isn't a dig at the poor it is just fact.

Yep, as the government slips further and further towards socialism and the nanny state, our "benefits" also make us liabilities. Our status as liabilities makes it necessary for the nanny state to control our actions, in the name of cost savings, and also "it's for our own good".

There have been a few very funny quite large comedians that I would say contributed to comedy a great deal.

They may not have lived what we would call a full life but they gave us all they had while they were here.

Re: Obesity is contributing to global warming

I did not mean to imply that hefty people do not contribute to the world of comedy. Clearly they do. From Jack Black to Comic Book Guy. Even Fozzy Bear was a little pudgy, by Muppet standards.

My original post was in reference to someone commenting that large people drive large vehicles because they wouldn't fit in smaller cars. I was simply trying to point out that those people were robbing the general public of a potential good laugh. I did not mean to imply that because one is hefty that they do not count.

For the most part, nobody can make fun of you without your permission. If you do not like people making fun of you because you are overweight, don't be overweight. If you make fun of someone for being overweight, don't be too upset when someone else makes fun of you for being bald, short, stupid, a brown-noser, etc. It's all fair game and nobody is up so high on a pedestal that they can't be reached.

If you can't take it, don't dish it out. That's not to be confused with "I can take it, but I'd prefer to dish it out." Which is still ok.

Now let's all have a hug.

Quite honestly....just looking around at the grocery store or anywhere else it is quite alarming the number of obese people. I don't remember when it got so bad, but everywhere you turn you see kids through the elderly that are posing a health risk to themselves.

Simple genetics: big people breed big people.
Stupid people breed stupid people. If there ever was something that should be taxed or regulated, it is the right to breed! imo of course.

I also heard passing gas helps contribute to global warming. I wish I wouldn't have had chili last night, because it's supposed to be warm enough this week
