Final Vegas Vacation Preparations

The wife and I go to Vegas for 5 days early the next month and I wanted to get some final suggestions on things to do. We already have front-row tickets to see the Blue Man group and are planning on seeing the Hoover Dam but so far that's about all we've actually some-what officially planned on doing, other than relaxing of course.

Any ideas for two non-partiers? We may see Ka (by Cirque de Soleil) but haven't decided yet. We've heard there are some great shopping places, possibly even a nice outlet mall type thing, but we don't really have any idea where those things are or what is good. With a ton of stuff going on the past few weeks, I haven't had time to do adequate research on the web yet but hopefully I'll be able to make some time before we go.

Anyways, any suggestions are certainly welcome

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Jeremy,
The highlight in Vegas this year will be in September. I hope you are there to watch the Cyclones improve their record to 4 - 0!

Re: Final Vegas Vacation Preparations

My wife and I went in Feb. and we didn't do much of the club thing. Plenty of good stuff just to walk around and look at. We saw the Cirque show, "Mystere" @ Treasure Island (If you've seen "Knocked Up" you've seen some of Mystere) It was actually really good and really funny in parts I highly recommend it. "KA" has more of a story line and martial arts from what I've heard.

How are you getting to the Hoover Dam? I'm a car nut so when we went to the Hoover Dam we went to this place and rented a convertible for the trip.

Go to the Piano bar at NYNY. Or there is another decent I think farther down the strip, maybe Harrahs. Good times, but laid back having a few beverages.

If you do go to the Hoover dam, go to this hotel. 4VR4Cy and I were driving from Las Vegas to Phoenix a year and a half ago, the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Well, it was very busy that day and traffic was horrible, it took about 2 hours to get fro the town right before the Dam to get off it. Anyways, while we creeped along the road, I spotted a great promotion going on at the last Casino/Hotel before the Dam. I had to take a picture of it.

I didnt get to stop by and take advantage of the deal, but maybe they will run that special again!

Re: Final Vegas Vacation Preparations

I suggest a trip to Red Rock which is only a thirty minute drive west of town. If your a canyoneer you'll be in heaven once you visit Red Rock.

Southern Utah is only a three hour drive and I highly recommend a hike down the Virgin River inside Zion National Park.

There are a number of concert venues which book the most popular recording acts; The Joint inside the Hard Rock Casino, Thomas and Mack, Mandalay Bay, etc. You can check in advance to see what acts will be performing.

I lived in Las Vegas for thirteen years and was always amazed at the number of people that vacation there. I thought of Las Vegas as just another congested city which has casino's located thoughout the metro area. What I liked best about Las Vegas was its close proximity to Southern Utah. Southern Utah is hard to beat in the way of recreational amenties and climate.
