I just finished reading "Last Train To Memphis" an Elvis biography. If I was going to Memphis, I'd be interested in visiting the dinky old Chess Records recording studio ( it's located on 706 Union - which is right off the 240 loop) that was run by Sam Phillips and who recorded Elvis' first song ('My Happiness') and the early hits - 'That's All Right Momma', etc. Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash also recorded there. I'd much rather see Chess Records than Graceland.....or even the Opry for that matter.
I was just there a few months ago and a lot of good restaurants are near Vanderbilt, in an area called West End (I think, or it might be South Side...LOL, anyway, it's near Vandy).
Have fun and show us some pictures when you get back.
