Looking to buy a mp3 for music and perhaps dumping photo's(SD card). I've been looking at the Creative Zen 8GB. Any thoughts on this one or others that you may recommend. On a similar topic, any suggestions on quality ear phones.
Thanks

I've had several Creative products and LOVED them all. I have the M at 30GB. Work great and can be found at bargain prices since it doesn't have the name Crapple on it.
I have several friends that have the 8GB Zen and really do enjoy it.

I have an 8 GB Zen, love it. I didn't think I could fill it up when I bought it...stupid! stupid! stupid!
ISUKyro, how does the M compare with the Zen in terms of size, etc.?

Any issues with software or scratching? Did you buy a better pair of plugs with your Mp3 or using what came with it?

I always like CNET's reviews and ideas.
For the Creative Zen (8GB) Creative Zen (8GB) MP3 player reviews - CNET Reviews
For the Creative Zen Vision:M (30GB) *this is the one that I have Creative Zen Vision:M (30GB, black) MP3 player reviews - CNET Reviews
The Vision:M is very similar in size to the standard Ipod size. I think it may be just a bit thicker.
It's been a while since I played around with the Zen (8gb). This is newer and is much more slim. I could be wrong, but I don't think it uses a HDD so it would be better if you were looking at doing work outs and worried about the movement of the player.
Gotta love the SD slot on the Zen.
Overall it's newer and sexier. 8gb or 16gb is not enough for me... but it is sill very very nice. | "Not all who wander are lost" -J.R.R. Tolken |

I bought some Shure ear noise canceling ear buds ($150) to replace the headphones. Now I don't have to crank the volume to drown out other noises or people.
I also bought a plastic cover for it. It covers the screen and protects the device. No scratches and works great.

I have put my Vison:M through hell and back. Only 1 time has it ever 'froze' in the 2 years or so that I've had it. I've used it while working on, road trips in the car, and just everyday stuff.
When it did 'freeze' on me that one time all I had to do was press the little reset button with a paper clip and it was fine.
I should note the with the Vison:M the battery is internal. Now I use mine a ton and I have not noticed a drop in battery life. But I do know that scared some people away from it.

I'm sure the product works great, but what I'm worrying about is that I'll get mad every time I try and put songs on it from i-tunes. The i-pod working with i-tunes is so simple. Anyone know anything about the software with the Zen?

Creative Labs and their Zen products (at least when I was still selling them) had the best file management at the time. They could play more formats than anything a couple of years ago. I would assume that is still close to true.
The Zen syncs up with Widow Media Player very very easily. While I'm not an Itunes guy myself I've never heard my friends (who are fans of iTunes) complain about it.

Sounds like Creative may be the one for me.

Thx!
