Re: Indiana Jones
We're thinking about going to see it this weekend as long as I get to see Sex and the City next weekend. :)

Re: Indiana Jones
Personally, I get more worried that a movie will stink when I see alot of ads. Harrison Ford has been on every talk show known to man over the last 3 days, that makes me a little worried about this latest Indiana Jones movie.

I like adventure movies. It wont dissapoint me. Its a movie not a job interview.

As a Die Hard 1, 2 and 3 fan, I thought DH4 was about the best pure action movie there's ever been. I don't have the same expectations for IJ4 but I will certainly allow myself to enjoy it for what it is and not expect it to be the same ole Indy. Afterall, it's Indy plus a lot of mileage and years. I went and saw it this afternoon and that's the mindset that I went in with. I knew after 20 years it couldn't really compete with the originals but I was totally happy with the outcome - it was still a great movie although this one may have been a little 'out there' than the previous movies. Hell, the crowd actually applauded when the movie ended which is something I've never seen before at a movie.
I wonder though if we'll see a spinoff with the way the movie ended. I don't want to elaborate due to those who haven't seen it yet. Anyone else see this coming?
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience. -
Childhood Memory Molestation
That's a new term that been coined for what George Lucas does to people. Basically, you take a really good childhood memory, like Star Wars or Indiana Jones, and you "molest" it with a horrible new movie in the same series (in particular, think 'Phantom Menace').

Re: Indiana Jones
Like a good ISU fan, I have high hopes for the new Terminator Trilogy in two years - they just signed the main star recently.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Indiana Jones
Just got back from it ... it took me by surprise how it had the old "indy" feel, with the wise cracks and decent amount of improbable stunts and bullets that always miss at close range. In that, it was exactly like the first 3.
I felt like they gave up at the end ... I mean no real explanation of the events. I'm cool with an alien spaceship ... but wrap things up a little better, wasn't the russian gal supposed to have some control over this thing? or did the aliens set them up with the whole "ultimate power" promise just to get their head back?
solid movie, not hands down better than any of the others but definately not too much worse. enjoyable time.

Re: Indiana Jones
Horrible. Aliens and space ships do not belong in an Indy movie.

I liked it. A little too over the top at times, but it was a fun time. Wasnt exactly cohesive, but really enjoyed seeing Indy back on screen beating people up and stuff.

Re: Indiana Jones
There were some good parts that brought back memories, but overall not a good movie. I found myself just not caring what happened next for the most part. I remember hating the Germans, hoping Indiana would figure out the pieces of the puzzle, etc. - but this time I just really didn't care.

Re: Indiana Jones
We saw it last night. It was pretty good, a good addition to the first three, however, I thought it was a little too far fetched for an Indy movie.
SPOILERS - DETAIL DISCUSSION...
One has to keep in mind that this takes place in the late 50's when aliens and thoughts of space visitors were really taking off so it ties in with that pretty well. I don't think that the finality of the aliens coming to life and the ship flying away were really the best thing for this franchise though. In a way I had the same feeling I did with the 3rd Pirates movie - a little more sci-fi and unbelievable than the others (the "creatures" and stuff in the 3rd pirates was just a little further out there than I usually prefer).
Overall it was a fun movie, fit with the tradition of the franchise, but left a little to be desired for the way it all wrapped up. I did think the acting and writing was pretty good, albeit a little corny to fit the standard of the franchise. Surprisingly, I though Cate Blanchett did the least impressive job throughout. Shia LaBeouf did a good job considering it's a completely different type of movie for him. I can't say that I think he would be the best pick for the future Indy though.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -

If you didn't like this one, you wouldn't think much of the other 3 after rewatching them. It did a much better job of staying with the "style" than say, the Star Wars movies for example.

I'm leaving in an hour to go catch a matinee.
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating. -
Re: Indiana Jones
I thought it was a fun movie. Sure, a lot of it could be predictable, but it was still fun. We paid $2 for the two of us, so I'm sure we got more than our money's worth.
Seeing that fight in the jungle---Awesome!! Add the character moments that got included in that sequence, and the gross-out part, and you've got something that fits perfectly in an Indiana Jones movie.
