    Music Sites

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a decent download site. I used allofmp3/mp3sparks for a very long time. However, quite a while ago, mp3sparks stopped accepting payments. I've waited, but there doesn't really seem to be an end in site. I know of mp3fiesta, but I'm looking for a site similar to mp3sparks in that they offer songs at different bitrates. I was downloading songs from mp3sparks at 192kbps/vbr. Are there anymore sites like that out there? Thanks.

I use Mp3 Music Download - GoldenMp3.RU - essentially the same of allofmp3. They do NOT offer different bitrates, though, that I can tell.

Not a site that you can get mp3's from, but playlist.com is useful if you are listening to music with your computer around.

Just FYI, NONE of those sites are actually legit.
You're doing what amounts to buying stolen goods. Ethically it's no different than just downloading it from bittorrent or usenet.

Yeah, but the RIAA is going after THEM, not me, this way.

    Re: Music Sites

I thought it was "legal" to download music, but it is "Illegal" to share the music. Because, if nobody shares their music, then you can't download. That's why after you download a song, make sure you are not sharing the files.
Am I correct on this? or am I wrong?

Nope - unless you've purchased the CD and are ripping it, or purchased it from an actual approved source, downloading from some site like Limewire is illegal, since the artists are not receiving their royalties.

This tells about it fairly well: WikiAnswers - Is downloading songs from Limewire illegal or legal

    Thanks for the link.

But, it seems like the RIAA is only going after those who share the files they download. Yes, it is illegal to download music, but it doesn't seem to be at the top of their priority list.

Sorry - yes, that is true. For the most part, they are only going after the people who share their files.

Nor do they get any royalties from you buying something from a Russian mp3 site. Just because you purchased stolen property doesn't mean it's still not stolen property.

I'd rather just download it for free than give a dollar to a crook and have the same thing.

As far as Limewire/Bittorrent go, by default, if you download a file you are actually sharing it. At least while it downloads.

The only real safe/legit places are amazon, iTurnes, Napster or Real that I'm aware of.
