My biggest moving obstacle is air freighting my pickup and house hold goods to Anchorage. The cargo airlines have a large shipping backlog. The airlines haven't been able to give me an estimate as to when they will be able to air freight my possessions. I have sold my house and have to give the buyer possession no later than June 13th. If air cargo space doesn't open up soon, I could be homeless.

Only a sliver of Alaska can be reached by a road system.

At least I'm not trying to relocate from Little Diomede.
Little Diomede is an island in the Bering Sea which is one mile from Big Diomede (Russia). The international date line runs between Little Diomede and Big Diomede.
Anyway the island is very rocky and very vertical. It is so vertical that a runway is out of the question. In the winter this doesn't present much of a problem because planes can land on the frozen Bering Sea Ice. However, in the summer the only link to mainland Alaska is by helicopter. Mail is delivered AT MOST once per week and there is AT MOST one helicopter flight per week. So when you visit be prepared to stay for a while.
But its an experience of a lifetime to visit areas like Little Diomede, where the inhabitants live much like they have for hundreds of years.

That is simply amazing... I would love to be able to spend some time in a place like that. Maybe someday.

Stupid question but, if the inhabitants live like they have for hundreds of years, and the island is only accessible by air, how did those inhabitants get there hundreds of years ago in the first place? And what do they eat? I don't see a lot of farmland in those pictures.

They primarily live off the sea meaning that they eat whales and other sea animals.
