This is NON-political. I really like the font that is currently being used by the Obama campaign. I did some research on it and it seems to be called "gotham". It just seems clean...and simple. Anyway, I saw a website that sells fonts and the gotham font is listed at almost $200. I don't like it THAT much! Wow...is this common? I just took it for granted that all fonts were free or were just loaded onto a computer. I am a bit naive in this field I guess? I have always stuck with the most basic fonts but thought it would be cool to have that font available. Anyone know of a way to acquire a specific font at a more reasonable price or even free? I don't need it for professional purposes...thanks.

I can have a font conversation, I took a class at ISU about printing processes and we spent a couple weeks talking about fonts. Let's font it up in here!

That seems quite high... Even if you go to Fonts.com, you'll find that the majority of fonts are under $100. (Collections can get quite expensive.)

Here is the set of Gotham font characters:
Sans-serif fonts like this are good for making bold statements and giant banners. It has a clean, simple, yet strong quality to it. All the individual characters look unified.
I had hoped I could secure the Cyclone font somehow, as I really like it.

Font or front?
If Gotham (City), would that mean Batman?

I believe that font is called "Cyclone." I believe a graphic designer in the athletic department communications office created it from scratch, so ISU has a proprietary trademark on it. I'm sure they are allowing only licensed merchandise retailers to use it for their products. To my knowledge, they have not allowed the public to purchase it.

What about the font that spells out "Iowa State University" on all of their documents and I think is even used on Beardshear?
