Re: Official Storm Thread for Thursday 6/5/08
Is it just me or is kind of funny that last night when there were storms in SW Iowa Channel 13 tooks the NHL Playoffs off the air to cover what was going on. Tonight when there is a pretty good storm just west of Des Moines, the NBA Finals are still being covered.

Ok, so there was still lots of bad weather tonight (sirens went off here in St. Joe about half an hour ago).... but it was nothing like a "super outbreak" with 50+ tornadoes. It was more of a widespread wind event from a huge squall line (with isolated tornadoes, I'll give it that). There was definitely a concentrated area near southeast Nebraska, southwest Iowa, and northwest Missouri where most of the tornadoes were reported. Was it bad enough to warrant a high risk? Maybe, maybe not.
Definitely another bad night though for many in a continuation of a very stormy 2008.

It was milder tonight (so far) than what it had been billed as.
And that's certainly not a bad thing. I'll take that over the alternative.

Sorry just flashed back to my high school days. At least you didn't say Eden Prairie. I think every high school student in MN somewhat hates EP. My best memory from them was my junior year playing them in the section finals in football. Our fans spray painted their field with a big black and gold B, they proceded to kick the snot out of us. When we were shaking hands Willie Mobley (4 star d-lineman) said "hey thanks for spray painting our field", I just looked at him and said "hey, thanks for ending our season". I would also talk about HS hockey but not many people here are hockey fans -

WOI knows no one ever watches them for the news, so why bother breaking in? My WOI HD feed broke up right after the game ended, so good timing.

I even went outside to see if it was still that quiet if I was outside (it was). Something worth noting though, I grew up with a siren right across the street from my house, so it would actually wake us up in the middle of the night. For some reason I still think that's what should happen. Meh, not a big worry for me. I'll be up till probably 3 anyway.
