Amazon Kindle

Does anyone have one of these?

Or know anyone who does?

Curious as to what people think of them.

Re: Amazon Kindle

Apparently, no one has any thoughts about this!

They are still expensive...I will probably wait until the price comes down more.

Have toyed around with the idea of getting one but have been more interested in the Sony Reader. If I could get text books on them and they were a little better with word docs and pdfs they would make more sense for me. Like you, probably still waiting for the price to come down and to have better features.

I have a coworker who got one. She mostly listens to audiobooks, so I don't think she misses having a tangible book. I fiddled with it, and just can't get used to the feel of it.

Re: Amazon Kindle

I was just reading about it on Amazon, so I'm sure this was unbiased information.

It sounded really good for me. I could carry books to work easily, and especially the three books I'm planning to take to Jamaica with me (yes, I'm a nerd!), since they are of the large variety.

I could see this being handy for me on plane trips for school, and all sorts of uses.

Who wants to donate to the CycloneErik Kindle Fund?

Re: Amazon Kindle

My co-worker has one. We messed around with it a little bit last week on a trip. It was really convenient for traveling. You only carry essentially one paperback sized book, but have the ability to read as many as you want. If you finish it faster than expected, you can just buy a new one and download it right onto the Kindle. The screen was also easy on the eyes, and looks just like a paperback page when you're reading it.

If you travel a lot and love to read, I'd recommend it.

The wireless feature utilizing the cell-phone networks seems brilliant!

Can a person take notes on one of these? I tend to highlight a lot, and jot notes in the margins? Could I still do this?

I'd really like one, but I think I'm holding off until Christmas, when I bet the price will drop a bit more.

I don't travel, but I am a gadget guy and heavy reader when off from grad school, anyway.

My next program will involve travel, so that seems handy
