How much of the $ actually goes to the school? It only says a portion.

My avatar is a pic I took from my phone camera at the spring game. Gotta love Cy on a bike.

Not sure. I'm not too concerned about the NFL hoarding too much. They've donated a ton of $$$$ to the cause already.

That's awesome! How many high schools get a NFL hat?

Wartknight,
Say I wanted to buy one and didn't really want to keep it? I'm not overly excited about wearing it, but I think its cool. Could I get a school address or AP address to mail it to instead? what are your thoughts on that?

Not to high-jack the thread, but I heard that a football coach in a neighboring community took his team to Parkersburg to help clean up the football field. They all got down on their hands and knees and crawled along picking up the glass and other debris that had landed on the field. All but a large piece of wood was removed by this team.

I think I'd rather do something like this than buy a hat. Or just outright donate money. I don't really need a hat. But it is a great idea.

Bliss to you!

Stories change a little, but for the most part, that was us at Dowling. We were up there last Friday with about 90 kids. Our head coach is a good friend of Coach Thomas and used to coach just down the road at ****-New Hartford, and I am from A-P. There have been several schools that sent their teams as well. Humbolt, Dallas Center-Grimes, Harlan, South Winn, NU High, Wapsie Valley, Waverly to name a few.

Clones_jer- A couple ways to go about doing that- The Lincoln Savings Bank in Aplington has a local fund set up if you would like to just donate the $20. If you would like to buy a hat, I'm sure sending it to the care of Ed Thomas at Aplington-Parkersburg Middle School
Aplington, IA 50604

and specifying that you want it to go to a player who lost his home would probably get the job done.

It might be you (Dowling) that I heard about. I only caught what went on, not who did it. The lady I talked to said it was a coach who used to play against A-P at one point.

Bliss to you!

Peter King from Sports Illustrated happened to call while we were there. I posted it earlier this week, but here it is again.

Great article.

Sent a few hats to Ed. I did the local donation last week, but the hat idea just strikes me as really cool. I'm sure that will popular headgear in the stands in the couple months.

And btw, tell 'em to kick the crap out of West Marshall. They've got it comin.
