Directv vs Bad Weather: Winner... Bad Weather
I love Directv and all the HD channels but when severe weather even thinks about getting close there goes the evening of enjoying my favorite programming
Re: Directv vs Bad Weather: Winner... Bad Weather
My HD never goes out, of course I am using an antenna. I don't have the $$ to upgrade to HD from DTV yet.
Re: Directv vs Bad Weather: Winner... Bad Weather
No problems here, both with DirecTV and my antenna.
But it's early.
Re: Directv vs Bad Weather: Winner... Bad Weather
It hasn't gone out yet but it has started to show signs...I lost it for quite a while last night when the storm rolled through
Re: Directv vs Bad Weather: Winner... Bad Weather
gotta have that antenna handy for the bad weather nights....glad I have mine so I can still get local HD's

I used to have that problem but had them come out and adjust it. Seems to be better now. And the only time my HD antenna has lost reception was when it got loaded with ice this winter. I think it was a good investment just for weather safety.
Re: Directv vs Bad Weather: Winner... Bad Weather
We're watching channel 5 right now and it royally sucks... but then again, it is channel 5.
We have had problems with the dish cutting out in the past and even switched to cable a couple times hoping to get a better signal. We currently have an antenna plus dish so we can at least see local channels when the weather gets bad.
Re: Directv vs Bad Weather: Winner... Bad Weather
I have a set of old school rabbit ears so I can still get locals if it gets bad, but I would have to upgrade TV's to get a built-in tuner to get local HD. Hmmm, that sounds like a viable excuse to go TV shopping (honey it is all about safety when we are getting severe weather, we can watch everything is HD )

Put you antenna in your attic if you can. It is out of the weather and you dont have to look at it. I thought I would never have to use an antenna but had to hook it up when I got an HD TV. DTV usually does lose to rain.
Re: Directv vs Bad Weather: Winner... Bad Weather
I have cable, but it doesn't matter anyways, ABC and WHO are cutting out their HD for the weather updates. I know, I know, I'm not supposed to complain about that... but KCCI is managing to show weather warnings across the bottom AND keep their show in HD. Too bad I don't want to watch that show...

Actually, I have heard that works for the dish too.

Losing channel 5 may be in your best interest. In fact, I think you have to pay Direct TV so you won't receive it.

Think that until ISU BB games are on it. They cannot seem to figure out their HD either.
