The rivers are not anywhere close to the levels they were at during the flood. I don't expect any flooding today

seems like a heck of a stretch of road. S 5th is not WAY up by main, it's the same street The Fox bar is on and the boys and girls club which is in a low lying area. I used to live on that street in college and it's probably near a mile south of main. Ames would be in big trouble if the water got clear up to main!

Just to clarify, "5th St" is by Main. "SW 5th St" is by the WalMart and Target. Look it up on Google Maps.
There's a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 16th st south of Lincoln Way, all have the prefix "South" in front of them. The numbered streets north of Lincoln Way are simply 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc., without the prefix.
