Re: Dow down almost 400 points

I'm a CPA with many small business clients. IMO - what we're seeing is the real deal. Collections are slowing, spending is being cut, and making the payroll is more and more difficult. I have a seven store pizza franchise whose costs for cheese and flour have increased by $18,000 per WEEK versus last year. And we're better off in Iowa than the rest of the country.

Not to sound like Chicken Little - or Mr Bravado - but now is the time to either hold tight or take bold steps. Much is going to change in the upcoming months.

What's worse, I just read an article about a spending bill that has over 11,000 earmark spending provisions costing us billions of dollars in taxes.

No, not really...just kidding...what we really have here is a tremendous buying opportunity. The stock market is on sale right now.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Who'd have thunk the $1200 'check' I got from the fed's, that went directly to Wells Fargo, would have no impact on the economy?

That depends on if it was after he read about the unemployment rate, price of oil, the stock market, or the spending earmarks...

I blame the unemployment rate solely on University of Iowa grads who can't get a job.

Top 10:

Lincoln = LSU
Roosevelt = Texas

Others
Taft = Iowa (he was our fattest president wasn't he?)
Actually, Roosevelt would be more like Notre Dame. Highly regarded, but noone can really elucidate why.

That and the huge welfare state, and attempts to subrogate the constitution he saddled us with.

Long term, Roosevelt effectively killed the US by introducing socialism and the entitlement state....

He does get kudos for recognizing that the US couldn't stay out of WWII, though....

The Stock Market has been higher this year than ever before. It seems like every election year the politicians (both sides) talk about the economy and everyone gets scared which actually affects the economy. Come January, all this stuff will be over, no matter who gets elected. That's my two cents about all the economy talk.
