Flood pictures

Here's some I took around the MLK/Euclid area around 10am yesterday. The water at 8pm the night before was about up to the intersection so you can tell it has gone down. The levee is the area east of where I live. There was a bike trail on top of it, you can see where they brought in more dirt and even blocked off part of MLK and I think that the water probably would have gone over had they not reinforced it. You can also see the levee in the distance that they built around the new Polk county offices. The water over MLK by Hy-Vee also had receeded but you can tell where it had been.

THey just spent a bunch of money on that old target building. I wonder if it stayed dry behind those sandbags? THe water was a ton higher there in 93.

Re: Flood pictures

From what I can see from a distance I think the levee they built around it held. They hauled a ton of dirt in there early last week preparing for the river to go over.
