I don't know if there is anyone else on here that loves watching Top Gear from the U.K. It looks like they just announced who is going to be on the American version.
As much as I love the original show, my guess is that the U.S. version is going to suck badly. The best part of the british version are the 3 hosts and how they have no problem completely slamming cars they don't like. My guess is that this won't be possible with the amount of $$$ the Big 3 pay to advertise on NBC.
Adam Corolla? That's all I need to know. I'll never watch an episode. This coming from a guy who reveres the BBC version. I think that show is absolutely hilarious. The US version will most likely be a cross between The Man Show and Redneck Funniest Home Videos.

I agree. Adam Carolla was a terrible choice for a host. I don't need to hear about beer drinking and girls on Top Gear.
Well.......at least how Adam will talk about it.

The sponsorship thing has me worried. They had asked Leno to do it and he wrote a column about it saying what his concerns were (and they were all very valid ones).
Also, I think you almost have to give it a full season to attempt to let the chemistry develop between the presenters. That is what makes Top Gear such a good show is how the presenters interact. That, and the amazing camera work and editing. I'm worried that they are going to take the gimmicky portions (i.e. Robin Reliant space shuttle) as the focus and ignore the actual car portions (the test drives, the car vs___ challenge).
Here is hoping that Top Gear USA and Top Gear Australia are decent.
