Fitness Clubs In Urbandale/Waukee

I'm looking to join a fitness club that I can go to over lunch time so it needs to be fairly close to my work's new location on Meredith (a mile West of I80/35). Does anybody know of any good fitness centers around that area? I'm not looking for anything expensive, just a place where I can go and try to cut some weight at my own pace. Preferably the drive wouldn't be more than 3-5 minutes so I have time to workout and shower before heading back to work.

Thanks!

Jeremy Lind

There is a snap fitness in Grimes (never been there) but it would be close.
There is also 7 Flags on 100th (might take you more than 5 minutes to get there).

You've always got Aspen right by the Living History Farms In Urbandale. Or 7 flags, but Aspen seems to be better.

I go to Anytime Fitness in Waukee (North off Hickman on Alices Road). It's prob a bit too far but they do have other locations around Des Moines. I like it, pretty good selection of machines, free weights, and cardio.

The quality has gone down but Oakwood gym on merle hay is close to where you are at. Has all the equipment just not as updated as other gyms.

Aspen is nicer than 7flags, but 7flags is much cheaper than Aspen. You are going to have to stick to one of the big ones if you want to shower, so basically it is Aspen or 7flags. I go to 7flags because they are closer to the clive trail, plus it is $29.99 a month.

aspen is good and has the best competition for pick up games and a lot of former college players play there. Prarie life on mill civic pkwy is very nice and there's always the YMCA

Thank you Wes Johnson for the great 2 years you gave Iowa State. Wish you could've stayed. Best of luck to you, wherever you end up.

There's a Snap Fitness at 156th and Hickman that is probably within your 5 minute commute guideline.

You must work at Marsh?

Yeah that is for singles, they have deals for groups, but they did not post them. This is just off a poster I saw on our HR bulliten board this morning

Isn't there also a Snap on 100th just north of Douglass, by the Casey's. That would be about 2 minutes.

My wife and I pay $40.00 for both of us at 7 Flags. Having been a member at Aspen previously it definitley is a nicer club, but their extra costs aren't worth it. There 45 pound weights weigh the same as 7 Flags' do. Eye candy is better at Aspen.

I agree on that 100%, but 7flags is cheap, and all i am looking for is barbells, dumbells and a treadmill. I also like that at lunch 7 flags is dead, you can get in, do you workout and get out in an hour.

You can wheel and deal at 7 flags we pay 58 bucks a month (couple) and have access 7flags main and all of the 24/7 express'.

Gave them the HR contact at my wifes work so they could email or send a flyer about rates along with paychecks.
