This morning I found about 10 millipedes crawling on our carpet. I have never seen them before in the house. The house is only 1 year old. I've read that millipedes can come into the house during wet weather. However, I think my house is really well sealed and I don't really even see how they could get in. Anyone else seeing these? Any suggestions on how to find where they are coming from? I'm thinking about calling a professional. I hate bugs.

I don't think there is such a thing as house that's sealed well enough to keep all bugs out. Be thankful you only have millipedes and not these things:
I don't mind most bugs in my house, but I hate house centipedes.

BTW, how ironic, I am listening to the 80s on 8 on xm, and the song centipede by Rebbie Jackson just came on.

I've used Orkin before, they did a nice job of getting rid of the creepy crawlies.

We have some that are red in a part of our yard. DISGUSTING! I apply a lot of insecticides now though |
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. |

I read somewhere that the extermely high water table is forcing the bugs up and out of the ground.
There isn't a house in the world that can keep all the bugs out.

I don't mind most bugs in my house, but I hate house centipedes. When I was doing my internship in Rochester, MN, I went to take a shower one morning and apparently one of these was on my shower curtain. When I closed the curtain it fell on me. Freaked me out, and I've hated them ever since.

Our problem this year is Ants. We get a few every year, but this year they are particularly bad.

That's a house centipede. Those things look nasty, but they're harmless. They eat the other bugs that sneak into your house, and they live in all the hard to reach crevices around a house. I used to live in a house with quite a few of them. I might find 1-2 of them a night. I got used to seeing them, but I still hate them.

Ortho Home Defense works great for a do-it-yourself kind of bug spray. We spray nearly once a week, and keep finding dead bugs in the basement afterwards.

I had one of these fly into my head the other night.
I chased it out with my socks (only thing I could think to use at the time).
