Strangely enough, 4 out of the last 5 receptions I've attended were freaking awesome.

You're easily impressed aren't you???

Question for the day: Can I still make season tickets work for FB and MBB if I move to Canada?

I'm assuming it is "whoop"

I hope you not talking about the polka song "In Heaven There is No Beer", because most people just like that as a polka song. We had that because my wife's family is into polka as her grandfather is in the polka hall of fame.

Every wedding reception should have at least one polka so everyone can embarrass themselves trying to dance to it.

I've heard it done once at a wedding reception as the newly married couple made their entrance. (Of course, neither one of them had attended a single class at EIU ) I had no choice but to boo the guests of honor.

No, this is the actual Iowa Fight song, as written by Meredith Wilson. It was my high school's fight song and even with the words changed, my dad refuses to stand and clap to it. I love it.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Last wedding I was in, the bridal party came in to the ISU basketball intro song.

I think playing a fight song at a wedding reception is dumb.

Finally found a song (EIU theme song) more dreaded than The Sweet Caroline.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Re: Anybody sick of hearing...

I can't say that I've ever heard it at a reception. Heard the Husker fight song at a wedding in Western Iowa before though. Overall, I think that it is kind of tacky for weddings.

I have heard the iowa fight song at piano bars in Omaha and KC before. Of course, in a regular piano bar scheme, the performers let you pay to make them quit and start a different fight song. Sad, but that scam always works on me when drunk and I end up shelling out to hear ISU and no more iwa.

Do or do not, there is no try .....Yoda

Got married under a year ago, when talking with our DJ he asked how we met (wife and I met in college at ISU) and then he said "awesome I'll play the fight song sometime during the wedding reception!"

We said no thanks...

I am an Iowa State fan but I dont shove it down others throats (except at fb or bb games) I dont give ISU gear to kids for gifts unless they ask for it... I've had hawk fans try to give me shirts or shorts for gifts and each time I give it back, I dont even want to exchange that crap. I dont blast the fight song in my car to friends just because. But I am an Iowa State Fan.

Re: Anybody sick of hearing...

Where are these receptions held? The IHOP? These sound pretty classless and it says more about the people's weddings you are going to more than anything. But unfortunately you can't choose your family now can you?

And as crummy as this one felt, Cyclone fans, it could be a lot worse. You could be a Hawkeye. - Sean Keeler (imagine that, actually quoting Keeler!)
