Ha Ha Ha....there have been some 'discussions' (mostly me joking around) about this kind of stuff between me and the fiancee....
Her: "Have you thought about tuxedos?"
Me: "Yup. Cardinal tux, gold vest. Same colors on the flowers. Moving on..."
Her: "I don't think so. We'll come back to that. Who do you want there?"
Me: "I want Sanderson and Chizik to be my ushers. Nobody will mess around that group. Let me give Pollard a call to see if he'll be Master of Ceremonies..."
For some reason, most of my suggestions are ignored. I'm still fighting to get Ribeyes served as the main course at the reception, and I need to find a liquor store in this state that has kegs of Shiner Bock to go with the Leinie's.
I'm sure I'll get the fight song played at some point during the dance. I'm already planning on my part of the picture slideshow to be set to "Cyclone Fantasia". The Chicken Dance (and probably the Hokey Pokey) have already been outlawed (that decision was totally mutual), along with all polkas (might try to slip the Packer Polka in there)
The Iowa Fight Song will not be played. I have people coming who are either students of or alumni from at least 15 different D-1 schools, and Iowa is not on that list. It's going to be a fun day.

4. Uncut version of "Get Low" played. Skeet Skeet.
5. Danced to it later in the night.
Apparently my wedding was white trash central. Actually, I don't really mind any of these on the list. Except for Celine Dion. That Canadian has to go.

All I gotta say on the subject is if this is your wedding, this is your day to do pretty much whatever the hell you want (so long as you get the approval from the missus-to-be). You wanna have the ISU fight song played? Go for it. Wanna dance to the Macarena, Electric Slide, Hokey Pokey, Chicken Dance, and Cha Cha Slide? Get your groove on. Want your flowers to match the new athletic identity exactly? Excellent. Don't listen to the haters for a second - a wedding should not be catered around the guests desires but around what the bride and groom want. The guests will hardly remember the wedding/reception 5 years later, but you and your spouse will be looking at the pictures/video for the rest of your lives. If having what some hater would call a "white trash wedding" because doing a lot of the traditional stuff as well as showed your Cyclone pride is what's going to make you happy, then go for it. Who are they to tell you what YOU should do for YOUR wedding anyway?
My wife and I did a LOT of the traditional stuff for our wedding. Granted, I didn't get to do Cyclone colors/theme songs (my wife would have killed me), but I have no regrets about mine. Well, okay, I have one - I worked on the slideshow for hours upon hours before the wedding only for it not able to be played during the ceremony (the AV people at the church weren't there to figure out what was going on)

I have been to a couple when that has happened, I usually just wish divorce on the couple that insisted on playing it. On the other hand I did play the ISU fight song at my reception. It was awesome.

I have to worry about what others think... Otherwise they might sue me....
We met with the dj last night for our wedding... Twilight zone for the party... Cut to the Fight song for me and the bride....
No Hockey Pockey even though her mom will want it... No flower tossing or anything like that... Absolutely no other fight songs or songs related to sports beside what we want.
Like others said... Its my party... and i'll cry if I want too...

The neatest story I know about is from a church member that was in the Basket Ball pep Band at ISU. They had a pretty traditional ceremony and then to exit the ceremony they ran out with the ISU fight song playing
It was different, but totaly suited the couple and their relationship!

I couldn't wait to get back on here and post to this thread. As promised, they played the iowa fite song at my Brother-in-law's wedding this weekend. My mother-in-law talked to me before and said they would really appreciate it if I joined them in dressing up in black and gold. I refused, but it was sickening. Probably 75-100 people went to the back room of the hall, got all dressed in hawk garb and ran out to the fite song. I stood up on the stage and booed the entire time. My wifes uncle, who is getting up there in years caved into the pressure and came out in hawk gear and after the song. I stood right in his face yelling "TRAITOR!" for the next couple minutes. I got hoarse, he felt horrible and drank his sorrows away.

the aTm thing, if you are talking about what i think you are talking about i think it is pretty cool
is it
hullabaloo caneck caneck (and it is responded to with the same thing)
there is a little known second verse that is aimed at texas http://fightmusic.com/mp3/big12/Texa..._Hymn_long.mp3
Good-bye to Texas University.
So long to the Orange and White.
Good luck to the dear old Texas Aggies,
They are the boys who show
the real old fight.
The eyes of Texas are upon you.
That is the song they sing so well, (sounds like hell)
So, good-bye to Texas University,
We're goin' to beat you all to --
Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem!
Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem!
Rough! Tough!
Real stuff! Texas A&M!
Saw Varsity's Horns Off!
Saw Varsity's Horns Off!
Saw Varsity's Horns Off!
Short! A!
Varsity's Horns are Sawed Off!
Varsity's Horns are Sawed Off!
Varsity's Horns are Sawed Off!
Short! A!
(Varsity was the longhorn before BeVO, which actually stands for 13v0)
so iowa fans can say we are obsessed with them but at least we didnt write them into our fight song

hullabaloo caneck caneck (and it is responded to with the same thing) I'm pretty sure they're talking about the WHOOP!
The "Hullabaloo caneck-caneck" is the sound of a train rolling through College Station.
And, in any case, the whole "diss your rival in the fight song" isn't just A&M. The first two lines of the UT fight song are...
Texas Fights, Texas Fights And it's good-bye to A&M
And Kansas...well, Kansas just hates on everybody (except us)
"I'm a Jayhawk" Talk about the Sooners, the Cowboys and the Buffs,
Talk about the Tiger and his tail,
Talk about the Wildcat, and those Cornhuskin' boys,
But I'm the bird to make 'em weep and wail.
'Cause I'm a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay, Jayhawk
Up at Lawrence on the Kaw
'Cause I'm a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay, Jayhawk
With a sis-boom, hip hoorah. Got a bill that's big enough to twist the Tiger's tail.
Husk some corn and listen to the Cornhusker's wail.
'Cause I'm a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay, Jayhawk,
Riding on a Kansas Gale.
Of course, it's hard to take Kansas seriously after watching them all "Wave the Wheat" | | |

I easily explained to them that these people are just "loco"
I've been to a bunch of wedding receptions over the past few years and have had the Iowa fight song played at TONS of them?!? Man, it's things like this where when the song ends I just say, "7 out of 10..."
