Anybody sick of hearing...

...the Iowa fight song at wedding receptions?!?!

I just returned from a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic and everyone there except me & my wife were Iowa fans. They insisted on playing the Iowa fight song over and over and I have to say they all looked so stupid as they did it. The locals had these looks on their faces like "wtf???" I easily explained to them that these people are just "loco"

I've been to a bunch of wedding receptions over the past few years and have had the Iowa fight song played at TONS of them?!? Man, it's things like this where when the song ends I just say, "7 out of 10..."

Never heard it at a wedding, but if I did I am pretty sure I would pee in the punch bowl, grab my gift along with a few others and hit the road.

What do Cyclone fans and Hawkeye fans have in common?
Neither one ever attended the University of Iowa.

Re: Anybody sick of hearing...

I've heard it at several and I know I will hear it at my brother-in-law's wedding this weekend. Its like a cult and they pause to worship the herkey when the song comes on.

"This is a prayer..and...IT'LL BE ANSWERED! INSIDE THE 20 YARD LINE FOR PHILLIP BATES!"

Can't say I have ever heard it at a wedding, even if I did I don't know it sounds like so I wouldn't know without being told.

You would know....everyone would all put down their jar full of shine and carefully extinguish their Menthol cigarettes. Grandma then whistles along through her tooth.

This sounds about as bad as the retarded monkey sound A&M alums make when they introduce themselves at meeting.

Dear lord I wish I had this gift.

Damn Eastern Iowa....

"I just back into town and I hear all this stuff, and Buster Olney is making my team up now and [Genske] wants to tell me who is going to pitch here. No one is going to tell us who to put on our team and no one on ESPN is going to tell us who should pitch for my team. " -Gardy

At every single meeting that I have gone to (I'm a teacher I go to about 4 a week during the summer) when an A&M alum introduces themselves they will say their name, their school they teach at, and then make some really messed up sound. And then everyone else that went to A&M makes the sound. I can't describe the sound other than how I posted above.

Re: Anybody sick of hearing...

Growing up in a family full of Iowa grads and fans, plus being married to an Iowa grad who also has a family full of Iowa fans, it seems I can't go anywhere without hearing the song. The Piano Bar in Las Vegas -- Iowa fight song and people join in. House of Blues in Chicago -- Iowa fight song and people join in. In freaking Times Square in New York -- Iowa fight song and people join in.

It just seems like no matter where we go, someone requests or starts singing the Iowa fight song (drunk, of course), and all of a sudden Iowa fans come out of the woodwork and join in.

It got played at 4 out of the last 5 receptions I've attended.

Strangely enough, 4 out of the last 5 receptions I've attended were freaking awesome.

Yes, I'm an ISU Alum and Hawkeye fan...get over it.

I've never heard a fight song played at a wedding reception. That just seems trashy to me.

I don't think I'm alone when I say I'd like to see more and more planets fall under the ruthless domination of our solar system.

At least the sounds of cell doors slamming shut and lights out being called kinda drowns it out a little.
