Yeah but if she were to win the gold, this would be the biggest story in the history of sports in Iowa. This is the biggest event of the olympics, it is the event that most Americans associate the olympics with. It is like womens figure skating in the winter games, except bigger.

Think about the exposure Mary Lou Retton had, it is going to be just like that if she wins. She is the all american girl, and is super cute, and people love that.

EDIT: That sounded bad, but you get my point, she has that all american girl look.

See I don't see what the big deal is with the sextuplets are. Big deal you took clomid and had a litter in a box under the stairs. What really bugs me is they said they were not going to exploit those kids for $$. Then I see them on Oprah, and hawking books and such, ummm ok, whatever so much for not exploiting it.

I'm not much of a gymnastics fan, but I think she deserves all the press she can get.

She not only is an Olympic athlete, she's the reigning world champion. Shawn should be in the limelight as long as her accomplishments warrant it.

I do think the media coverage is crushing/but that is expected with that sport being such high profile during the games.

Yes, women's gymnastics is the summer olympics. Most americans do not watch anything else, but womens gymnastics will be on at 7pm on a sunday night.

I believe it's on TV on Saturday as well. Sunday is the "important" day.

If it were just the Rag that was pimping her then I'd say overblown. However, I've seen her on those NBC commercials promoting the Beijing Olympics. If the national media's picking up on her then it's probably warranted.
