Weather Radio Recommendation

Just wanted to let everyone know that due to the recent events this summer (Parkersburg, Flooding in DSM, CR & IA City, Cub Scouts, etc). I recently decided to purchase a weather radio. I bought a Midland WR-300 AM/FM Weather/All Hazards/Civil Emergency Alert Monitor with S.A.M.E. from amazon. It gets great reviews, minus the alarm clock function (which I could care less about). But you don't get all the annoying alarms for the entire area, just Polk county or Story (whatever) and you can mute all the alarms except for a tornado warning. If anyone is looking for a great weather radio, I recommend it.
Stay alert, stay alive.

Very nice, I am gonna have to get one of those. Our weather radio is so annoying. It goes crazy at 1am to tell me there is a flood warning for the raccoon river, except I live in Ankeny.

Re: Weather Radio Recommendation

I just got the Midland... The first one had a busted antenna, but we exchanged it at Hy-Vee (were it was purchased) and all is well.

I'm just waiting for it to actually alert for the first time to see what it does.
