How do you find out about new music?

All the topics about music made me think:

How do you find out about new music (artists, songs, etc.)?
Is there an internet sight you go to? A magazine? Friends?

Re: How do you find out about new music?

When I was younger I was better as I had more time for it. Usually I channel surf a great deal on Sirius. When I hear something I like I'll go check it out. If I ever like it enough to buy the track and then I always buy the entire album and usually stumble on at least 3 more songs that I really like.
Sometimes I just rely on my students to talk about different bads.
Usually I am pretty far behind on new music though.

iTunes does a great job of presenting new music.

It always has a free download each week of up and coming artists that I usually check out. It also has a new feature that makes suggestions of music to listen to based on what you currently have in your library which is sometimes hilarious, disheartening and interesting

"I just back into town and I hear all this stuff, and Buster Olney is making my team up now and [Genske] wants to tell me who is going to pitch here. No one is going to tell us who to put on our team and no one on ESPN is going to tell us who should pitch for my team. " -Gardy

I'm getting more and more stuck in the 90s/early 00s but if you go to www.pandora.com you can type in a band you like and it cycles in other songs of bands with similar sounds.

I frequent www.billboard.com and usually download songs that just cracked the top 5 and also browse different genres on there.

I ask people I know who like the same kind of music I do. Or people make recommendations based on what they know about what I like.

I frequent various music blogs that focus on the genre I am most into as well as get turned on to a lot of stuff by friends.

I love it too, it's really grown on me. I didn't even know about it until Zone 105 went off the air.

I'm normally not a radio guy, but 105.1 in Ames is a really good station. Sure they play some crap but I've also heard the Pixies and the Adolescents recently.
