Doesn't DISH make you pay $5/month for locals? Rip off.
They do charge the $5, but Dish has the receiver that controls 2 tv's. Each company charges $5 for additional receivers, so if you have 4 tv's you would only need 2 receives with Dish for an additional $5 and with Direct TV you would need 3 more receivers for an additional $15.
I have Dish so the $5 charge for locals is for all tv's so you don't have to pay that for each receiver. Doing the math you save $5/month with 4 tv's and locals through Dish Network.
I have Dish but have used/lived at places with Direct and I think Dish's program guide and DVR are hands down much more user friendly and easy to use. Both have their pros and cons for programming so depends on what you are looking for. I am not interested in the league pass packages and you can add additional Fox Sports Network regions in a package (I think 5 channels for $5?) if you are just wanting to see certain region sports. You usually get the regional ones like midwest and north anyways if you get a high enough package. I have the Top 250 package and there is always something on plus you get Encore, Fox Movie Channel, AMC, IFC, and a couple others thrown in as part of that package.
