That's only like 60 hours a week. My summers in college, I worked like 55 hours a week.

80 hours of OT per month???..... that's only 60/week on average and it killed him??? WTF? I have gone for months working 60-72/week and I know people that work 60-70/week year round. I had a streak once where I worked 80-85 weekly for a couple of months..... it sucked, but the money was great, especially at the obscene contractor rate I was getting at the time.

I stayed 20 minutes late last night and had to have 2 beers when I got home. To top it off, we only had busch light in the fridge and that was because a neighbor left them at our place after a bbq. You people work too much. Life is short. When I'm old I'm gonna look back on a sweet life and lots of memories away from work.

    Sure, likely story.

I have worked 6 days a week 10 hours a day before for an extended period (3 Months +) and while it did indeed suck I managed to survive. I would not like to do it again but I know I could if push came to shove.

Maybe he was in charge of the Prius Sportification Project. Sorry I just hate the looks of that thing.

I'm with you on this one Dosry... only reason I worked 60 hours a week is so when the fall came I could work less and still go to road games. Work should be a means to support your life, not be your life. You can't take it with you when you go

Re: Toyota Engineer dies from working too much

This is actually a repost, but I'm too lazy to find the original.

    60 hours a week is a slow week for me. I often go 3 or 4 months at a time working 90+ hours a week. That's 12-13 hours a day, 7 days a week.

When I was in Iraq, I averaged 16 hours a day for a YEAR.

Sounds like some Japanese workers need to learn how to ruck up and drive on, if you ask me....

    Wimps....

Its common that North Slope oil employees work 13 or 14 hour days 7 days a week. Many work this type of schedule, "two weeks on and then one week off."

And when I owned my own company I worked 12 hour days seven days a week for quite a number of years.

Well, dang it! The whole reason I've worked long hours was to impress you, too....

Just goes to show you; best laid plans and all that....
