Lasik

I just had lasik about a month ago and it is nice to not have to ware glasses, however, some of the side effects have not worn off yet (dry eyes and halos at night). I did some research before, but I guess not as much as I should of. Everything I've read says that those side effects will ware off over time, but most of that info comes from lasik providers and I've talked to people who said that they still see halos because of their lasik. I was just wondering if any of you have had lasik and if these side effects have worn off for you?

I had the procedure about 5 years ago, and the halos mostly wore off after the first 6 months or so. I still get a little blurry vision at night, but not too bad. It's still better than wearing those coke-bottle glasses I used to have.

The dry eyes problem lasted about a year, and then I got used to them. I still don't have as much moisture around my eyes as I used to, but I've gotten used to it, and the dryness isn't a big problem.

My wife's sister-in-law had lasik about 8 years ago or so, and she had a bigger problem with halos than I did. I guess she's one of the minority that have significant problems with the procedure, but her vision has gotten better over time just like mine has.

I had the procedure about 4 years ago and I experienced neither problem after the first 3 days. I may be one of the lucky ones but I thought the procedure was one of the best things I have ever done for myself.

I had dry eyes from my contacts, so the lasik eventually made that better ... but it was worse for a while ~ 2-3 months. I was putting drops in every morning religously until I ran out of drops one day and noticed I didn't need them the next morning.

The halos are still there for me to some extent 4 years later. You get used to it over time. They are much better than right after surgery, but they are definately still there. Most of the literature I read about lasik indicated the halos and/or reduced night vision were moderately likely scenerios from lasik surgery.

I wouldn't change a thing, I loved the procedure and the side effects have been very minimal. Give it 6 months and see where you're at.

Man I really wish I could get lasik done. But my eyes are to bad for it =/

Before to long I should be able to have a process doen where they implant a lens into my eye, and I can be rid of these glasses forever.

I had it done as well. No real side effects. The procedure sucked however. I think the guy broke every blood vessel in my eye during.

As if it wasn't bad enough to be a "raver" whatever the hell that is.

My wife had it done and she had the same things as everyone else on here... and it too wore off finally after a few months. Just give it time. You're still "healing" in the biggest sense of the word. You had surgery on a very sensitive area and they just take some time. You should be okay in a couple months.
DId you have your follow up exam with your doctor yet? My wife (besides the day after visit) had one a month later or maybe 2 months, but you can tell them all of what is happening and talk through it.

I'm 10 years out and still 20/25 or so. Best thing I ever did. That being said, I have troubles driving at night - can't see the lane markers as well as I once did. And if its raining - fogettabooutit. Next car will have to have the HID headlights.

I've recently (over the last year) developed bad case of ocular rosacea --- major dry eye and a few other symptoms. Not sure if it was related to my surgery, but who knows.

Again - best thing I ever did. Sounds cliche - but it was lifechanging for me.
