No problems here in Clive other than power was out for about 3 hours. Came back on about 6:30am.

Re: Did Anybody Else Get Woken Up Last Night?
I usually sleep through storms as well, but some really strong winds and hail woke me up, in Ames. But it doesn't sound like that was anything compared to the north side of Des Moines.
Glad to hear there wasn't any more damage than what could have happened.

Re: Did Anybody Else Get Woken Up Last Night?
I have woken up at exactly 3:30am for the past 5 nights for no apparent reason..... (of course being in Houston, it has nothing to do with your weather up there). I think I may set my alarm for 3:00am today and see if I can walk around my apartment and find out what ever it is that is waking me up.

Re: Did Anybody Else Get Woken Up Last Night?
We had tornado sirens go off here in Carroll around 2:15. Had some nasty winds blow through -- guess there are trees uprooted all over town. I have several down branches, including one on my power line and cable line. Mid-American is scheduled to come remove it (although I'm probably pretty low on the totem pole since I have power). The weirdest thing I saw in my back yard was concrete from my retaining wall laying 5 yards away from the wall. It's a mess around here... (But could have definitely been worse at our house -- counting my blessings!)

Re: Did Anybody Else Get Woken Up Last Night?
I woke up about 12:30 and heard it storming. I woke up again about 3:30 to hail pelting my wall and strong winds. I had wondered if it had stormed non-stop from 12:30-3:30. In my mind, it seemed like it stormed all night long.
I didn't hear any tornado warning sirens here in clive but maybe they never went off. I had no idea it was even a bad storm until this thread.

There are still at least 2 others that didn't get moved because they are secured with sandbags. So that's 5 that I know of in a development with only 15ish houses that are occupied.

We slept through the siren...which scares me in case we really would have had to take shelter. The good thing is my new puppy didn't care about the storm.

Passed thru the Quad Cities at about 6:00 this morning as I was getting ready to leave for work. Although soaked quite a bit, I got my new ISU flag down before the wind carried it away...

MrsWx said the studio took a couple of hits and they lost some of the monitors inside for awhile...they weren't sure they were on because the monitors were out. Digital (8.1) went out for awhile but they never actually went to generator or lost power.

Re: Did Anybody Else Get Woken Up Last Night?
My 9 mos pregnant wife and 2 year old were taking cover in NE Ankeny. For the first time since we moved here over 4 years ago, the house was creaking and making noises in all the wind last night. Got power back at 9:30 this morning.

Only once was a tornado warning, but at that point we turned the stupid thing off so we could sleep. We're seriously thinking of getting a portable one so we can keep it with us around the house, instead of running to the bedroom to turn it off everytime there's a flood watch or severe thunderstorm watch in the area.

I have a Sharecom WRP-500 (unfortunately I think that company is out of business now). On this model, you can pick which counties AND which type of warnings that you want to be notified for. I'm sure there are other higher end radios available that have this functionality...

With the noise the wind was making, my first thought was that the tornado was right outside our window. Flipped on the TV, but the cable was out until about 3:15. Internet did work and I could tell that the worst was just past. I live by the library and there were some branches down in the park and some on my street, but none in my yard. Sure did a number on my tomato and pepper plants though!
