You may be surprised. let's assume that you just eat one healthy Grilled Chicken at Panchero's and then some tortilla chips on the side.

Another thing with "fast food" is that relative to sit-down restaurants, the $$$/calorie is lower. You can pile in the same amount of calories for significantly less money at a fast food joint (food is cheaper plus no tip). I guess in that respect, the sit-down restaurants have a built-in "deterrent"...

I really urge people to pick up Eat This Not That by David Zincenzenko. The main part of the book focuses on healthier (not always exactly healthy) choices if you are eating at chain restaurants. This book has really helped me because I have to limit my daily sodium intake to 1500 mg.

For example some of the unhealthier choices are:

    Chipotle
Chicken Burrito (w/ Black Beans, Rice, Green Tomatilla Salsa, Cheese, and Sour Cream)
    1092 Calories
    44 g fat (19 g saturated)
    2323 mg Sodium

    Subway
    6" Tuna Sub
    530 Calories
    31g fat (7g saturated)
    1010 mg sodium

Re: You know that slippery slope thing

After my divorce, I ate fast food, pretty much three meals a day, for about a year straight. As luck would have it, I was in my mid 20's at the time. I probably wouldn't fare as well now.

As a resident in Los Angeles County I for one am not suprised by any of this. The local govenment is a joke at best and with all of the other problems at hand they think that new fast food joints are the most pressing issue. Fat people in So Cal will find a way to stay fat and I am sure people will continue to get fat. Its not like there aren't enough fast food places already. Between the choices for burger joints alone you could eat at an different chain every day of the week and still have a few left over. This whole thing has been yet another reason that I will refuse to retire in this state if I can't leave sooner.

Make your move now!!! Leave while you still can. I made it out, thankfully, back here in God's country now. Great burger joints out there though, man I miss In and Out, talk about a tasty burger. Fatburger was good too.
