Well, staying with the GTA theme, all you really have to do is try to open the passenger door, and the cop leaves the car. It all of a sudden unlocks, and you can just hop in and go.

And actually, when I first started reading the story, it sounded like something I did down in my basement playing GTA while waiting for the tornado warnings to subside this afternoon. What's crazy is that there had to be one hell of a storm going on in the area when all of this was going on. Well, that's not as crazy as what actually happened...

The same way that you claim that the presence of a gun leads to murder? If you're going to kill someone - someone you know and ostensibly care for - then the tool that is used is inconsequential.

I don't disagree with the second statement.

is it wrong of me to think that somebody would have to be crazy, out of options, or both to do something like take someone's life??? I hate to say it, but my first thought was JB when they gave the description...

Police cars have GPS built in - you can be tracked.

I was thinking the same thing unfortunately...its sad that it has to come to this over a relationship. Nothing is worth taking some other's life.

My son was headed back to CR from Ames and was detoured off of 30, through State Center, then east on a county road to highway 330, where he was able to get back on 30. This was about 9:50 p.m.
So very sad when people resort to this. It isn't the gun that kills, it's the person. Even if you ban weapons, people will find a way to get them when they want one.

Not to hijack this thread but where did you get that avatar? Coincidently I saw it today when Pollard gave a talk to the Rotary Club in Cedar Rapids. I don't recall ever seeing it before Pollard's talk, so when I saw it in your avatar just a few hours later it caught my attention. I'm sure it's something popular and I'm just an idiot living in an isolated world.

Wow. He must have been in one of the 2 other cars that was on that road with me. That was right about the time I was hitting State Center as well.

I had never gone north on that road, so I asked the State Trooper who was just directing traffic How I could get back to Highway 30 and his answer was "take a right at the stop sign and eventually you'll take another right."

I was heading home on old 30 after work and I slowed up at the ethanol plant to see if there were any markings from yesterday and there is a small pile of auto glass on the edge of the shoulder encircled with orange paint. Kind of wierd that it was left there because it's still on the edge of the pavement.

Unfortunately, the city of Chicago is decreasing the amount of Section 8 housing it has. This is displacing a large number of Chicago residents who were living there. Ames, IA was one of the places they were directed to go to, presumably because we have a lot of section 8 housing.

Those people who are migrating are bringing their cousins/brothers with them who also, unfortunately, are bringing the crime along with them.

Recently a girl's body was found by train tracks. Supposedly she was hit by a train but that, to me, seems hard to believe because trains are not that hard to avoid seeing as how they can only go one direction.

Between that girl, the male student who was pulled out of lake laverne two years ago, the stabbing that happened last year outside of a bar, John Lacina, and the other things that have been happening, I am worried that Ames is becoming more dangerous because of the people who are bringing a ghetto-chicago attitude to our small town and preying on our care-free community.

Personally, I believe it's the increase of thetans in the area more than section 8 housing. We need to get those things under control. Damn Xenu.
