Re: Ames sweet corn
I dunno, but I was just back in town to move in this last weekend, and all I can say is that farmers or whomever do a FINE job of finding *ahem* employees to work the sweet corn tents, at least the one at 13th & Grand and out in front of the furniture place by Target -

I bought some there a few years ago.

Nichole's Countryside Fruit Stand on Highway 69 in Story City. All of the stuff there is off the chain. Local, fresh and reasonably priced.
If they have it (which has proven difficult here because of demand) it's gold.

I enjoy the stand at 13th and Grand personally.

Re: Ames sweet corn
The Grimes stands (one is in front of target) have consistently been the best over the years. With that being said, I have found very little up to the standards we are all accustomed to. Maybe with the wet spring and late planting, it grew too fast after pollination?

I assume that we are talking about the corn again now...

Re: Ames sweet corn
I picked 25 dozen ears today to put up and think the quality is some of the best I have ever raised. I don't think the year affected the taste of mine at all. What variety does Grimes corn sell, anyone know?
