DM Register raises price
Not that many of you probably buy the paper here but today the price went from 50 cents to 75. I didn't think you were even getting 50 cents worth now with how "light" the paper has been lately. I know it's a business but can't imagine that this will help their circulation numbers. Even more funny is that while at the fair yesterday they were giving away free Sunday papers. Well while they have you there they try to sell you a subscription. To get just the Sunday paper delivered to your door it was $7.60 a month. Hell I can go 2 blocks down the street and get it for $6 a month from the gas station or even free if I get gas at Kum and Go! That $1.60 a month isn't worth the doorstep delivery.
And just to show you that I can be critical of the Register like some here have acused me that I am not, I am very PO'd at an article that published a couple weeks ago that I was quoted by name and employer without my permission for something I posted right here on CF which I didn't even put my employers name in that either! Then to top that off I wrote the person that wrote the article about my displeasure for using my quote when I had said I did not feel comfortable using it and they never responded back to that email which didn't help matters either. I have an email drafted up to the editor about this situation that I've been debating on sending or not because I'm not sure I really want to press the issue anymore and let it die but that doesn't change the fact some shoddy and lazy journalism took place and not even a simple response or apology was returned when I voiced my displeasure.
So yeah, I guess be careful what you post here because you my find it in the paper some day! Obviously my blog was an obvious way to figure out who I was after they somehow stumbled across a thread here related to the topic of the article, but to still use something after I did not agree to be quoted was pretty lame.

That is bush league for them to quote you without permission and their source being a website.
To add on to your rant, you can get the DSM Register free online as well.

Re: DM Register raises price
I just get it once a week at Kum and Go. I'd rather get USA anyday than the Rag.

My thought exactly and it wasn't like it was something that would have been tough to get some opinions on, could have just walked outside and asked someone on the street what they thought. Like I said, lazy journalism and even more bush that the person who wrote it couldn't even put some lame excuse or apology in reply to the email I sent after I found out I had been published.

Don't send the email. I replied to an article that was written when I was the original Controller at Glen Oaks. What made the newspaper was a chopped up article that made it appear that I agreed with the DMR article. Fortunately for me and my job, the submission was approved by the investors before it was sent. Like Jim Croce said - "you don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit in the wind, you don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger". You can't win.

The lazy, incompetent, ignorant "journalist" is the rule, not the exception.
I'm currently reading "Stolen Valor" and learning what a crap-bag Dan Rather has ALWAYS been.

You should save some trees by canceling your subscription. No need to support shoddy journalism.

Re: DM Register raises price
I heard that the landfill raised their rates for bulk drop-offs so hence the Register had to raise their daily rates.

However, considering the quality of journalism that the Rag is known for, it isn't worth $1.60 for a MONTHLY subscription, much less delivery charges.

Re: DM Register raises price
I wouldn't subscribe to the Rag anymore, but my wife likes it and we got a deal for around $8.70 a month for the paper seven days a week. Only thing that ticks me off is we don't have a paperboy in our neighborhood, so it just gets tossed at the end of our driveway each day.
