Re: Metallica to play WF on 10/26
We saw them in Ames 4 years ago as well and that pretty much means that those of us that have admitted to it in this thread were the only ones there - that audience was terrible and Metallica was just as lame. Godsmack put on a great show for the setup but Metallica was awful.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -

Has it been announced when tickets go on sale?
FYI - "Down" and "The Sword" are the opening acts, never hard of either.

I thought the show in 2004 was great. Aside from the lame crowd, the band themselves put on a good show. I've got the whole show on CD still.
Its a pretty sad indictment when freaking Bon Jovi can sell out WF Arena twice, and Metallica will likely not even get to the 200 level seats.

As somebody that has proudly gone to both Bon Jovi shows, A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -

Re: Metallica to play WF on 10/26
Part of the problem of the show in Hilton in '04 was it looked really empty due to being a center stage, "in the round" concert. Oh, and it was a GA floor, meaning most of the people were on the floor, crammed in close to the stage. It would have looked much better had they just done a half-house show.
Don't confuse hope for a plan. -

Their last good album was "...And Justice For All". Everything has stunk since then. They will probably spend all their time making sure nobody is sharing any music files or anything.

Which is really funny because oh so long ago, Metallica used to allow you to bring recording devices into their shows. I'm talking eighties here. I saw them at Arrowhead in about 93. Triple bill
Body Count (Ice T)
Metallica
Guns 'n Roses
Loudest show I have ever been to. My ears rang for 5 days.

Metallica is no longer relevant, and i already own all the Alice in Chains discs(so i dont even remotely need to buy any Godsmack albums).
When all else fails, you can bank on Slayer putting on as good a metal show as anyone.

Phil Anselmo is the vocalist for Down. Granted he's a shell of his former self, but back in his days with Pantera he was a strong positive voice for the metal community. 10+ years worth of heroin and other drug abuse has sorta jaded me towards him and what he once stood for. Down is primarily a southern metal supergroup of sorts though. They garner much respect in the metal community (underground or otherwise)
Not familiar with The sword.

I saw them at the state fairgrounds in DM in probably 1996 for lollapalooza. Awesome show with Soundgarden coming on before Metallica.
