Jon Bon Jovi is still relevant(?) thanks to the Arena League football team he owns

That and they've still put out successful albums post-1990.

I'll have to research this with sales figures and such. I know they had a hit song "its my life" about 5-6 years ago....but not sure that constitutes a successful album. Show me the money!

Im not a fan so what do i know.....
Regardless, Id still rather see Slayer than any of the aforementioned

A quick wikipedia search looks like their albums since 2000 have sold upwards of 25,000,000 world wide, i'd say that's pretty decent.

Re: Metallica to play WF on 10/26

I was there in 2004 for Godsmack and Hilton. We paid $60 to sit in the parque and Metallica was pretty lame. Godsmack put on a awesome show, on the other hand. Really, from what I saw, Metallica should've opened for Godsmack. I paid $35 to get on the floor for Slipknot last time they were in Ames and I got 100 times more for my money than what I did for Metallica.

Lars acted like an idiot most of the show, kept screaming things like "It's been way ******* long since we've been in Ames, Iowa!" or "Ames, Iowa really knows how to ******* rock!" and any other "insert city name here" phrases he could think of.

When I bought my ticket for that show I thought "man, I'm going to see one of the greatest bands ever, this will be a great story to tell people in the future." Yeah, let's just say I haven't exactly bragged about being there.

I thought the Metallica show at Hilton was great. Godsmack was great and Metallica was just as good. I will get tickets for the 26th show, even though St. Anger was about the worst album ever.

Also, timed to get flamed, but I think that the Black album and Load and Reload is some of their best work. Not to mention S&M.

Not to pick nits or anything, but Metallica's self-titled release (the Black album) was released in 1991 and has sold 22 millions copies worldwide. I guess some people might consider that a success.

    I agree, but that's 17 years ago, that's a long time.

It would be interesting to look into it, but I'm betting that Metallica has sold just as many albums as Bon Jovi since 1990, probably more...a lot more.

I'm a Bon Jovi fan, but to me they are two different types of concerts. The Metallica concerts I've been to have a lot more raw energy. Bon Jovi is great for the sing alongs and the chicks love it. I just saw Bon Jovi on the Have a Nice Day tour, so I'd rather see Metallica than them.

Re: Metallica to play WF on 10/26

According to the RIAA, here are total album sales all time:

Metallica - 57 million copies sold

Bon Jovi - 34 million copies sold

Do with that what you will.

Obviously Metallica's best days are behind them, but they are numbers 1, 2, and 3 on my list of best concerts I've been to. That includes a Kiss, Van Halen(Sammy), and Ozzfest in 2000 w/ Godsmack and Pantera. Pretty tough to top the Dec 31, 1999 show with Kid Rock and Ted Nugent (no giant buffalo though) at the Silverdome. The 1998 show in Ames was pretty amazing too.

I refuse to see them now because I don't want to tarnish the image I have of them. In fact, I have taken the stance that Metallica retired after the millenium new year's show, the rest never happened. Kind of like Michael Jordan never actually played for the Wizards.
