DirecTV
I am contemplating a move from cable to DirecTV. Anyone have any experience? Can you give me your thoughts...pros, cons, issues, etc? Thanks.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -
Re: DirecTV
i've heard from a lot of people that mediacom is not very good and is way overpriced, we had dish, it was ok, then we switched to directv and it's a lot better

I love it.....occassionally it will go out during a electrical storm...but it's pretty good most of the time.

Do a search here...you will find many threads where this is discussed. There is a lot of good information to be found.

Re: DirecTV
There are a lot of threads in this vein already... I have DishNetwork... and I am happy. If you want NFL Sunday Ticket then Direct is the only choice.

Re: DirecTV
DirecTV is better for a sports fan as there are way more options.
If there is lightening, you're probably going to lose your signal until it's passed, other than that, digital programming and tons of sports are ideal for me...

Re: DirecTV
Get a local installer and get the on time guarantee (if they still have it)...

Re: DirecTV
make sure if you switch to directv that you should get an hd dvrl, it's great

Re: DirecTV
I have said it before but I have mediacom and I am happy with it. I pay less then I would with a dish so I see no reason to switch.
Sure if I wanted NFL Sunday ticket or 100 HD channels I could get those with a dish, but I am happy with the 20 HD channels I get now, without having to pay extra for them.

Re: DirecTV
I have been a DirecTV customer for years and I love it. The NFL Sunday ticket is what caused me to get it in the first place but I love the HD channels with the DVR.

Direct TV is far better than Dishnetwork. I've had both for over 2 year (different times). Direct TV is better in programming and equipment.

Re: DirecTV
I switched from Dish Network to Directv a few years ago for the NFL and have never regretted it. I had a couple of problems with reception and they came out free of charge, diagnosed the problems, and fixed me up without complaint or extra charges.
I had cable before that and got tired of watching what they decided I should watch and then raising prices to pay for channels I didn't want in the first place. Anyway, Directv has always been great to me.
