I couldn't open the linked article at work. Nevertheless I came across this article yesterday. From what I remember of the article, I don't blame the kid. It sounds like he was bored in school. He is being home schooled and is scoring well scholastically on his tests. More power to him.

I take back what I said about him earlier - his plan seems so solid and foolproof

Got news for you - don't have to drop out of school to be great at guitar hero. Look at this 9 year old (I'd embed but don't know how - here's the link). Amazing...

I like the quote, "he puts himself in the top 15 or 20 in the U.S." He is humble too. I bet Chad Johnson could beat him.

There are all kinds of possibilities connected with this story. For example, who is to say the home schooling the kid is receiving isn't on par on better with what he received through the school system. I'm just saying without knowing additional details I'm not ready to condemn the kid.

Well, I don't want to go there as I have my own opinions about that, but HE DROPPED OUT TO PLAY GUITAR HERO, that's pretty much all that needs to be said.

I heard that. It's literally stunning. I was feeling pretty good about my GH skills - then was shown that. I'm still shocked every time I see it.
