Re: 8-20-08 Olympics Thread
PS: I'm on Rocky Mt time zone, so we get the west coast feed, which is an hour delayed vs East & Midwest. Right now they just finished with the woman's 200 heat. I suppose they'll show the men's 200 final at the conclusion of the broadcast.

Anyone else think it would be cool to have a Trampoline on the 10 meter Diving Platform?
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

I suppose they are trying to protect the Chinese runners in case they false start the first time. Not that I'm trying to be that guy but I don't think it is to protect the Chinese runners because I believe that rule has been in place for awhile and not just for these Olympics. Although I agree that the rule doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. I suppose its so that as someone indicated they don't have 5 restarts from different people jumping the gun.

I suppose they are trying to protect the Chinese runners in case they false start the first time. Actually I'd say that's a fairly straight forward rule, how are you having problems not understanding it?
And your last sentence is ridiculous on so many levels.

I guess I should have put "insert sarcasm here" at the end of that. Sorry.

Re: 8-20-08 Olympics Thread
The age limit for platform divers is (14) - younger than gymnastics (16) - what gives? They were making a big issue about some of the Chinese gymnasts looking younger than 16. But according to a Chinese sports federation website, now taken down, Chen was born April 26, 1994. The age rule for diving is that the athlete must turn at least 14 during the year of competition. So by either birth date, Chen is eligible for the Olympics but she was not eligible to compete at the 2007 world championships.

I was hoping for a Chastain moment...
