Did Walter Dix hop in a Delorean from 1985 with Marty McFly and end up today in Beijing?

Questions about track:
1. Do I understand 'false starts' correctly - runner A jumps early and is charged with a false start, then if another runner B jumps on the next gun, is the entire field is eliminated? What happens if it's the final, gold-medal race??
2. Do they still have men's High & Low hurdles, or is there just one hurdle height? (I'm an old timer and remember when they had two events).

If runner A jumps early, the entire field is charged with a false start and they restart and runner A is still in the race. If, during the second start, a runner jumps, ONLY that runner is eliminated.

Why can't they just charge the runner who false starts in the first place? So that there is not 5 false starts?

Thanks for the reply....could be a good strategy; if you know a runner is 'trigger happy', go ahead and jump on the first gun, and hope that youkeep the other trigger-happy runner in the block longer on the second gun.

I've always wondered that too. Just another confusing rule that doesn't make sense. A false start is a false start IMO. One wrong move and you're done.
I suppose they are trying to protect the Chinese runners in case they false start the first time.
