    Until I see this with my own eyes I don't believe it. I had a roomate in college that tried to tell me that cold water boiled faster than hot water. So after some beers were drunk arguing about this, we did our own test, and the facts said that hot water boils faster.

    It is true; there are various factors that may contribute to the phenomenon.

    There's a great book called, "How to Fossilize Your Hamster" written by Mick O'hare of NewScientist Magazine that covers the topic in depth.

    All i know is that if you use hot water in your icecube trays it makes for clearer cubes.

    Ice houses use hot water to make their ice because the hot water pushes the air out and creates clear ice with few air bubbles.

    Well I dive the Zamboni at the Ames Ice Arena and we always lay water that's around 120 degrees and that seems to freeze faster than cold water.
