TCI in Polk City
Played 18 holes Saturday...Very nice golf course. We had deer about 30 feet from us on a couple holes. Can see Des Moines from one hole(can't remember which one, I think it was on front nine). Anyway, I think I lost a ball on every hole(I'm not very good). Just curious, as to how it compared to other golf courses in Iowa?

I love TCI. Great course. You would find the Harvester fun. Got married there this summer.

Re: TCI in Polk City
One of the top courses IMO. My personal favorite is Harvester, but that is much more expensive

Re: TCI in Polk City
Besides some personal issues I have with TCI, it's a great course. The only other public ones that compare are Blue Top Ridge and Harvester. When healthy, BTR is my favorite but it's pretty close.

Re: TCI in Polk City
I played Honey Creek in Boone last week. I found it fun and challenging. Very very scenic on the back 9 and can be very hard depending on your skill level and the tee box you choose. My advice is this though---play on Wednesdays when they have the $35 unlimited golf......that is a steal. Not sure I'd pay full price until it's in better shape...

Re: TCI in Polk City
TCI is a great course but the 17th and 18th holes are completely random and out of place compared to the first 16.

Re: TCI in Polk City
I use to play golf prior to kids. Cannot justify the amount of time it takes to play that game anymore.
I don't really miss it...due to the fact I was never really good.

Just curious, as to how it compared to other golf courses in Iowa? I played the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs this year and experienced the same thing with deer and some foxes. Practically had to chase them off the fairway. That course is also way above my skill level but practice makes perfect even on tough courses!

I do/did enjoy the TCI though. It's pretty close to my house and a beautiful course.

Re: TCI in Polk City
Play TCI in the fall before an ISU game. When the leaves are turning the place is awesome.

Re: TCI in Polk City
I was going to play there on Thursday, but they are airifying the course and only 9 holes are open. So the Harverster is the backup.

Re: TCI in Polk City
TCI is a great course, top 5 public in Iowa. Harvester is probably the best course in Iowa in terms of quality of the course, public or private
