Of all the cars I have owned, my 89 Acura Integra 5 speed is the one I miss the most. 2nd would be the Volkswagen Rabbit diesel. Both very well made, got great mileage, and fun to drive. The Rabbit had less pickup, but you can live with less pickup when you get 60 mpg (70 one time on a trip). With the fuels that we have now, gelling is not a problem, even in Iowa. Plus biodiesel gels less anyway, doesn't it?

I'd be in an Accord diesel right now if they sold it here... I love the TL's. But out of my budget as well....of course, what isnt at the moment =). I think Honda did mention that there will be alot of Diesel engines coming. I would definitely buy into that.

Here in SoCal, Honda has been one of the best selling car brand for a while. It's time for the rest of the country to follow Californians. Member for over 2 years and this is your first post, congrats on getting up the courage to post. Now let me shoot you down.
If you say that we should follow Californians, I sure hope you aren't anywhere near LA or San Diego, you would have to be kidding. I will drive my 4X4 because that is the car I want to drive and I'm paying the bills. It gets what 3 or 4 less mpg then most cars, big freakin deal.
Why don't you call me a terrorist as well next time you want to call me ignorant I will appreciate that and you will be in the same ball park with your comments.

Fair enough. But if it's gonna get really cold, you could just go down to the farm supply store and fill up with kerosene. Less mileage, but it isn't gonna gel. Gotta love #1 blend diesel in the winter.

It is a great place to vacation. Lots of things to see and do, the weather is great, and it is so close to the United States!

I have a friend who is a missionary, primarily to third-world countries. He drives diesels, and has some pretty interesting stories about what kind of "fuels" he's had to use to get around in some places.

Our family is on our third Honda since '95, two Accords and an Odyssey with only two minor problems in 13 years. A tube become plugged and backed up water into the passenger cabin on the first Accord, and the Odyssey windshield molding needed to be replaced because it whistled. The molding was a recall too so I didn't pay for it. One payed non-routine maintenance service in 13 years rocks.

You know, as a long time SUV-hating guy, I recently changed my tune. If I lived in town, and didn't do much highway driving, I'd DEFINITELY buy an SUV. You can get them for next to nothing right now (I've found TWO 10 year old Toyota Land Cruisers for $3000 - $5000 right now on CraigsList) and for in town driving, the mileage, and rollover concerns just don't matter.
I would give pieces of my "naughty bits" right now for a turbodiesel SUV. One of the diesel FourRunners or LandCruisers would do just fine, thank you!

My family's purchased three Hondas in the past four years after dealing with Fords and Chevys for years before that. Obviously we've been sold, and have no complaints about the Honda cars.

if Chrysler was smart they upped the ante with the new van model. I think honda got cocky with their vans and needs to get them back to what they used to be. Posted via Mobile Device

So I'm here without my engine.
The other option is to smuggle it in from Canada. There is a certain internet community that specializes in smuggling diesel engines from Canada for converting Japanese trucks to diesel.

I can proudly say I've always bought American vehicles. Just bought a new Saturn Vue a couple months ago.
My first Saturn and I couldn't be happier (and prouder for supporting a US company).

My first Saturn and I couldn't be happier (and prouder for supporting a US company). The term "US Company" is more or less meaningless. Last year, the company that produced the greatest majority of "US-built" components in their automobiles was HONDA.
But if it makes you feel better, do it.
Myself, I buy the best value in used cars; and right now, that is the mid '90s Buicks. Frankly, the Japanese cars go for an premium that is not completely deserved, imo, or I'd like one of those.
As long as companies like Ford can turn out complete pieces of garbage like the 2000 Focus, the 1990s Escorts, etc., they get none of my money, car-wise. Though I would like one of their 300cid straight six F150s, or a 2.4 L Ranger....
