Is anyone else bothered by this??

The president of Iowa Central Comm. College in Ft. Dodge resigned today under pressure thanks to the DM Rag running a photo of him partying on his own boat on July 4th.

Where is the pressure on Sally Mason for withholding documents from the BOR (she admitted it) and for not reporting a alleged felony to the proper authorities when she had knowledge of it? I ask you which is worse? Not to mention the other high up U of I officials that our tax dollars are paying for. Barta, Ferentz, and others. At the very least they all had knowledge of an alleged felony and not one of them reported it. And don't give me the line that the victim did not want it reported - as public employees they had, at the VERY least, a moral obligation to do the proper thing. Not a single one did. Inexcusable. Undefendable. They should all be fired.

So the guy was partying on his own boat, not breaking any laws, not harming anybody, and he gets fired? What is next, I can't run for public office because I drink some beer at tailgates? This is amazing. The guy was not on the company clock. He has every right to enjoy himself. Also, this just gives me another reason to hate the Rag.

I agree it was his son and his sons friends. Not a big deal.

Evidently covering up a gang-rape isn't as bad as holding a mini-keg. At least in the eyes of the Des Moines Register.

i thought i read somewhere that he said if at anytime he acts inappropriate that we would resign and he pretty much did that, but I dont think it is that big of a deal

In the old days, they would consider this a lynching.

While covering up a crime doesn't appear to be a big deal. Unreal.

Witowski was in on this one at the Rag. He loves a good picture scandal.

Yeah...it is not like he was holding a can of Natty Lite with his arm around some college chick.

Re: Is anyone else bothered by this??

This is a tough one for me. I work at a small private college in Iowa, and if my president was caught doing something like this, I would want him to resign. I can understand that you should be allowed to do as you please (within the law) on your own time, but there is no way to seperate yourself from your institution when you are the president.
As far as the parallel with what is happening at EIU, I totally agree. I am sick and tired of smaller fish getting fired while the big ones always get away.

Re: Is anyone else bothered by this??

Exactly why I just dropped the Des Moines Register. They have not gone out there way to get anybody in Iowa City to resign like they went after Iowa State when Eustachy was forced to resign, and now this !

Good ridance Des Moines Register !

It's not like he did this on a regular basis. His tan (or lack of) confirms that he is a newbie in terms of partying on a boat.
