Re: Bank Error in your favor, collect $160
I hope that karma thing starts kicking in. I bought a $75 reel at Sportsmans last month among other things. Got out to the truck, looked at the receipt, and they didn't charge me for it. Hmmmm..... Got the guilts and went back in and paid for it.
$75 reel, two credit cards, karma owes me right now!!

Re: Bank Error in your favor, collect $160
about a yr ago I found $120 on a sidewalk on Welch Ave. in Ames. While I kept it, a ATM in Ireland (later that summer) didn't give me 100 euro's....and even when i sent the bank a complaint + receipt, I never saw that money. I figure it all just balances out over time. -

Nor did I want it confirmed that I was right and the ATM was only supposed to give me $20's, not $100's, therefore they wouldn't have really had a way to know they screwed up or atleast where the money went...
Oh well a confused thank you for returning money the didn't know was missing from the manager is good too right?
(Story - in light of the fact that a tropical storm may come through here this weekend I went to the ATM last night to withdraw a little cash incase power/credit card service gets knocked out (it's happened before). The ATM dispensed 2 - $100 bills in place of some of the $20's it was supposed to give me... the transaction went through as the ammount I wanted but it gave me a lot more money than it was supposed to... so I spent lunch returning it to a confused bank staff)
Oh well... atleast it was a nice day for a drive As someone who has worked in that position in my lifetime, I assure you that whomever's drawer (probably the ATM teller) came up short the next day was very apreciative of you returning the money. Most cases like that I have seen the money does not get returned, and that counts against the teller.
You most started their weekend on the right foot. Kudos to you sir.
Boom.....transfer the karma -

A lot of people complain about fees because they seem to think they have a god-given right to use any machine they want at any time.
Still, it's good form to be honest. I'm not saying anybody should spend more in time and energy to return what was erroneously given to them than the item is worth, but if it was at a branch an all they had to do was walk inside then they probably should.
On a selfish point, the best feeling I ever had was when I found $200 in a shopping mall parking lot. I walked around the lot checking to see if anybody looked like they were searching for something. A lady with two kids in tow came running by frantically looking at the ground and under cars the whole time. I asked her if she lost something and when she confirmed the value I gave it back to her. Turns out it was to be spent on her kids Christmas gifts and it looked like she didn't have money to spare. Good feeling.

$75 reel, two credit cards, karma owes me right now!! Just think of all the fish that would have gotten away if you didn't go back and pay for it. First big fish you pull up to the boat only to have it slip the hook and you would have been cursing not going back to pay.

Re: Bank Error in your favor, collect $160
Couple years ago I was given an award by my company that allowed me to go online and select $1500 in gift cards from various vendors of my choice. I did so and then a couple days later I got an email telling me I had won the same award I had just cashed in. I went back online and there was another $1500 there for my use. Since I hadn't received the gift cards yet, I figured the first order must not have gone through so I ordered another $1500 in gift cards.
Sure enough....I ended up with $3k in Best Buy gift cards instead of $1500. I was honest and told my manager. He told me to give him the extra gift cards (which I did). To this day I think he may have just kept them for himself.

As you can clearly see in the image below, the error in question was for $200, not $160, and you are directed to collect the money. I suggest you march right back into that bank and demand your $200. -
