Seattle Restaurant Recommendations

I'll be in Seattle this weekend for a wedding (grrr, missing the KU game) but I need a restaurant recommendation for Sunday night. My wife went to UW, but hasn't lived there for nearly 10 years, so isn't too familiar with the restaurants there now. We're staying at the Westin downtown, so somewhere in the area would be great. Not too concerned about price and would prefer seafood, it is Seattle after all.

Ivars down by the Pier is a pretty good place for seafood. If you want a smaller meal sometime during the weekend, you need to find an Ivar's fish bar. Best fish and chips I's had, I really miss that.

Not a seafood fan, so I have no seafood recommendations. If you like Italian food though, Medin's Ravioli Station on Leary Way in Ballard.

I take that back, I do recommend Salty's in West Seattle for seafood. Great atmosphere, right on the water across the bay from downtown so you have a better view than from a restaurant that actually is downtown.

Just an FYI you have to wear your seatbelt, even if you are in the backseat in Seattle. I got a ticket in the backseat and it cost me 120 bucks.

I ate at the Oceanaire last May on a visit to Seattle and really enjoyed that. It's downtown.

I really like Maggy's on the Bluff in Magnolia. The food is good, not great, but if you can get a seat on the patio, you'll be looking at downtown Seattle and Mt Ranier reflected in Puget Sound. It's an amazing view.

Ivar's is not bad. Another place I recommend is Salty's. It is overlooking the Seattle skyline and has pretty darn good food.

Your friends are killing you. Nobody visits Seattle this time of year (in fact, I'll be spending the weekend in Ames). It will be 55 degrees and rainy. And it will feel much colder than that. Mt. Rainier will be cloud-bound until mid-February and all our awesome outdoor restaurants will be desolate.

You should check out the Seattle ISU gamewatch while there. The game starts at 9:30 a.m. so you'll have plenty of time to do wedding stuff afterwards. There were 75 of us there for the eUI game, but there will be fewer for this game. Oklahoma and Texas A&M also have gamewatches there so it is a fun Big XII bar.

The gamewatch is at Jillian's at 731 Westlake Ave. N. It is walkable from the Westin if you don't mind getting rained on. Parking at Jillian's is limited, but at 9:30 a.m. it shouldn't be a problem if you want to drive instead. Don't even think of taking a taxi. The joke is if you ask a Seattle-ite where the best place to hail a taxi is, they'll respond, "New York City."

As mentioned by others, Salty's in Alki would be my recommendation merely for the view (it's the one on all Seattle postcards). I'd be remiss if it didn't mention Ray's Boathouse. It is the place where all Seattle-ites take there out-of-town guests, but its best feature is its outdoor bar. Any restaurant in Seattle (with tablecloths) will have great salmon. Expect to pay $50/person for either Ray's or Salty's.

Ate at one of the outdoor fish bars a few years ago. Oddly, they had fantastic chicken, and it is fun to feed the seagulls.

If you have never been to a lock and dam before, there is one there that is mildly interesting. ;).

Go to Anthony's it's along the water. (Pier 45 maybe)

the Melting Pot for good food and fondue (they also cook your food infront of you.)
