Re: Jury Finds OJ Simpson Guilty on all 12 counts
Per the AP article:
"Kidnapping is punishable by five years to life in prison. Armed robbery carries a mandatory sentence of at least two years behind bars, and could bring as much as 30. Sentencing was set for Dec. 5."
Looks like he will get something significant out of this.

That is going to put a damper on him finding the real killer.

He must be quite angry that Johnnie C. wasn't around to defend him this time. After all, he was somehow able to convince 12 dopes from Los Angeles that OJ didn't murder his wife even with the preponderance of evidence against him.

Looks like he will get something significant out of this. Five years seems kind of light for kidnapping.

I just love it when definitions of a crime are stretched to include something the law was never intended for. Well, I am not addressing the actual crime, just the amount of time for kidnapping. Honestly, I am not familiar with the merits of the case. Is that what was "kidnapping?"

Yeah pretty much. As a general statement... being charged for 12 acts of crime for 1 act is pretty redicululous. Charge him for Armed Robbery which is what he did and be done with it.
Same thing with other cases.... I mean I think they charge them with so many crimes (most of them lesser ones) so that if they get off on one they can still nail them for a lesser/easier to charge for crime but...

Is that what was "kidnapping?" Sorry, I wasn't addressing you directly. And, yes it was. Any instance of "restraining someone against their will", however momentary, is now considered kidnapping.
Technically, if you put your hand on your significant other's shoulder to prevent them from storming angrily away as the result of a simple miscommunication, you're guilty of kidnapping, assault, and domestic abuse. And yes, there are prosecutors who will go after you for each of those.
I just love what the world has become. [/sarcasm]

But back to the case, how much of this really was influenced by the previous trial. I know it wasn't supposed to be, but was it?
