Re: Des Moines Register complaint
Does the Register have many actual paper boys or girls? Our neighborhood is 3-4 years old and we still have a motor carrier that throws it at the end of our drive way. We previously lived in the Cedar Rapids area and always had a paper boy who delivered the Cedar Rapids Gazette to our front door step. I guess I need the exercise walking out to the street to pick up the paper, but it sucks in the winter.

Then again you can just go to Kum and Go and get it free with a fuel purchase too. I used to get the daily edition, many moons ago. It was much cheaper to get a subscription. Close to half price. Wasn't all that long ago that I had the Sunday only and it was slightly cheaper, but close to a wash.
Our delivery was always pretty reliable. I know my in-laws get it like clockwork.
My wife was ticked that I cancelled it - she actually did read alot of the metro and lifestyle section stuff (the stuff the syndicate). I told her that it if we really wanted to get it, it was good opportunity to walk the dog down to the corner gas station and get us all some exercise.
That was well over a year ago, and we've made that trip once... maybe twice. Not sure if that's a knock on us or the paper. -

(I understand the reasoning and can't really fault them in the litigeous society we live in. But they close down things so early any longer and it's just generally clamped down. Compared to what it was in the 90's - today's rides feel like you're being told when to get up, when to ride, when to be done and they almost tuck you in.)

It's about the same thing.

Thank you....
Maybe they can't find your place? Quit moving your van, just leave down by the river where it belongs and they'll find you. -
Re: Des Moines Register complaint
I have a brother who lives in rural Iowa and they stopped home deliveries in his area.....if he wants the Sudnay paper, they MAIL it to him and he would get it on Wednesday....how's that for current news.

It's almost my day isn't complete if I haven't read about someone's complaints about the Rag online Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -

Re: Des Moines Register complaint
Update: Week 5 of the "Why can't the DMR deliver a paper" saga, and I STILL haven't been delivered the Rag.
Next week, I hide in the bushes and intercept the delivery guy.....
I'm assured by the customer service wonks, that it will be taken care of. Each and every week.

Re: Des Moines Register complaint
Hehehehehehehe, can't wait to hear about the intercept.
How many bushes are there by your van, anyways? Maybe you should park it in the open -
7th week of no Sunday Register
Just to update the group on my experience with the Des Moines Sunday Register:
Today is week 7 of no delivery. I've asked them to refund the full amount of my paid subscription, and I got promises and weasel words in return.
They "allegedly" sat the delivery guy down and conselled him on his lack of performance, but I doubt it; my neighbor down the street has his paper, and I am paperless.
The clock starts now on getting my money back. I'm not holding my breath....

Re: 7th week of no Sunday Register
The Redister now supports Obama so it is probably just a paper redistribution scheme, they sent your paper to someone who deserves it more. You should feel very patriotic.
But yeah that is a joke. Ever since they got bought out by Gannett, it has really been downhill.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin 1775
