Des Moines Register complaint
Okay, I know. I've been quiet for two months now, and have decided to come back and post a whine/complaint.
We're back in Iowa, reclaimed our house, and have been busy doing a complete remodel, using the "el cheapo sweato equity and curso" method.
So, foolishly, while I was gone during the week for work, my lovely bride decided to get a subscription to the Des Moines Sunday Register. We mainly read the comics, get cool ads/coupons, and I use the rest of it to protect various projects from overspray and as a firestarter.
Four weeks have passed, and they are obviously unable to actually deliver said paper. Don't know why these poo-sniffing morons are unable to deliver a paper, but each Sunday, they promise to fix the problem, and to credit our account. And every time we call, there is no credit applied, and they still haven't figured out how to deliver the paper.
And this Sunday, I discover that the customer disservice representative is actually answering the phone from flipping Oklahoma, and doesn't really have a clue on how to fix the problem.
So, this "fine piece of journalistic fish wrapper" has circulation problems? Maybe they should try to ACTUALLY TRY DELIVERING THE FRIGGIN' PAPER!!!!
BTW, if anyone happens to work for Gannett, or the DSM Red Star, please IM me to help.
Thank you....

Just one of many problems with the DM register

Why get a subscription to the Des Moines Sunday Register? If you gas-up at Kum & Go you get a free paper. Time it right so your vehicle needs gas on Sunday morning. Free paper! -

Re: Des Moines Register complaint
My wife signed us up the weekend addition. Our paper (when we actually get it) has been on the sidewalk by the street, in the bush, on the front step and on the roof. Yes, on the ROOF. We have had to call on 2 out of every 3 Sundays when it doesn't show up. So in short, I feel your pain. -

When we moved they couldnt figure out how to do a change of address. We stopped getting it and havnt missed it.

Not worth reading? I still do not understand why people read that journalistic joke.

Re: Des Moines Register complaint
I have a RSS feed reader for DMR on my homepage. If I see something I want to read, I can just click on the link and read- otherwise I ignore it. Works great.

Re: Des Moines Register complaint
This summer I stopped my Ragister for a week while I was on vacation and asked that it be delivered when I returned(vacation pack).
So.... I get back on a Saturday and that day's paper is there but no vacation pack.
Monday morning receive the paper but no pack. I call them and they promise to bring the pack out Monday afternoon.
Tuesday morning still haven't received my vacation pack plus didn't receive Tuesday's paper! I call them again. They promise this time that a manager will be bringing the pack out Tuesday afternoon. Didn't happen.
Wednesday I received my daily paper but no vacation pack.
Thursday I call back and ask them to refund my money for the vacation pack and ask for a manager from Des Moines to contact me on my cell phone which is on 24/7. The rep insisted that I would receive a call that day. 4 months later......still waiting for that call.

I wonder if that doesn't have more to do with the delivery person than the company itself. My family gets the Sunday Register and has had no problems.

Re: Des Moines Register complaint
I used to get the Sunday edition at Hy-vee. I stopped doing that, as it only took me 20 minutes to read the paper. I know there is another use for the paper, but I don't want newsprint on my butt.
